Right, Jesus was Not executed on any cross because stau.ros' meant an upright stake or pale.
The cross was a pre-Christian era symbol among non-Christians.
A symbol of the god Tammuz, the mystic Tau.
Hence, the Tau or T for Tammuz had adopted a lowered cross bar or cross piece.
Non-Christians turned that Tau into a cross for Jesus.

I was thinking about how Christendom (so-called Christian) pictures the cross bar being even with the upright pole.
To tie on a cross bar would make the pole Not be flat as Christendom depicts it.
Also, adding a cross bar to each pole would be un-necessary work for the soldiers.
