christian lifestyle

Christians should probably be living in religious communist communes where they share everything, according to the teachings of Jesus and how the early Church in Acts was described. Yes, it would be very hard to live that way today. Most Christians are fakes, anyway.

I certainly agree! A claim "I believe in Jesus" is a total lie if they do not conform their actions to what he taught. I worked in 20 countries, so I know different interpretations. One place a woman I met and told her about fellowship and truth just a Jesus taught, warned me to not tell anyone I was not a Catholic. But because I introduced her to a man who lived and taught the same truth just as Jesus instructed his disciples, she was fired and I was banned from Kimberly Clark paper mills among many where I worked. (Her and her fiance were not Catholics, but dared not tell anyone.)

Recently I had a Catholic Nun college student staying in my house. For the first time in her 31 years she was out of slavery and learned other religions. That forced her out of my house by her uncle (a US Army priest) and later I was put in jail just to avoid my contact with her while she continued sending me messages about how mean she was treated and still wanted to return to my house.

today's society doesn't allow people to have a christian lifestyle. today's society divides people and makes people lonely. society is ruled by the antichrist and, if someone chooses to live in accordance with the teachings of Christ, society will reject them.
Your sweeping statement that today's society doesn't allow people to have a Christian lifestyle suggests you think nobody is allowed. That is patently not true, you cannot speak for the whole of society. It also suggests you are not a member of a Church otherwise you would not say that. The answer? join a church but be careful most will fill you full of fear. So society is ruled by the antichrist. Who the heck is the antichrist? It sounds like President Trump, he is a master of discord and dividing the population, a pathological liar and a malignant narcissists. I don't reject anyone following the teachings of Christ, where is all this coming from? you sound depressed.

I don’t need to move - I’m fine with getting paid days off for Christmas and Easter. I’m pointing out that I *don’t* get the Jewish High Holidays or Eid off. People who celebrate those holidays can do it, but they generally have to take the time off unpaid. Christians have it pretty good in this society.

The way it works where I work is these special holidays are two personal holidays. This way it accommodates everyone. If you wanted to take Darwin Day or Cesar Chavez Day off, then you can. See what I mean by moving to Cali?

But you as a Christian don’t need to use these personal holidays to get your holy days off. The government says that most employees don’t have to work on Christian holidays. You can use those two extra days for vacation or whatever. See what I mean when I say that Christians have it good?

Hi
As has always been the case, the 'ruler of this world', who 'blinds the minds of the unbelievers' about Jesus, God's Son, and those who put faith in him, as per 2 Corinthians 4:4, the society in general is against the Christ and the Kingdom of God that will bring true peace and security to all of mankind on earth very soon. If anyone 'picks up his torture stake' and follows the Christ, they can expect the general public to treat them the same as the massed treated Jesus. Expect it. Be honored to be persecuted likewise for being a footstep follower of the Anointed One of God. (1 Peter 2:21)

As they were inquiring of Jesus as to whether or not he was the 'King of the Jews', (the one prophesied to deliver the Jews in ancient times) by the political ruler at the time, Jesus answered: “My Kingdom is no part of this world.” (John 18:36) Jesus refused to get involved in politics, because his Kingdom would be in heaven. He said that his work on earth was to “bear witness to the truth.”—Read John 18:37.
A slave is not greater than his Master. If they hated the Master, they will also hate His loyal followers.

take care

I think when you get right down to it, it's about Christianity vs secular humanism in regards to lifestyle, religion, politics:
"Summary
An overarching theme given to the world by Christianity is the equality of human beings, and the preciousness and worth of every human life. As put by D'Souza, "This Christian idea was the propelling force behind the campaign to end slavery, the movement for democracy and popular self-government, and also the successful attempt to articulate an international doctrine of human rights. My celebration of Christianity's role in shaping these great social changes comes with a sober corollary: if the West gives up Christianity, it will also endanger the egalitarian values that Christianity brought into the world. The end of Christianity also means the systematic erosion of values like equal dignity and equal rights that both religious and secular people cherish." If securarlism continues to gain, so will the restoration of infanticide, demands for the radical redefinition of the family, the revival of eugenic theories of human superiority, the suppression of freedoms of religion and expression, etc., as well as political tyranny."
In what alternate universe was Christianity a force against slavery or for equality?

The fringe Christian groups that supported these things, such as the Quakers and the Levellers, were mostly oppressed and persecuted by mainstream Christianity.

Throughout history, Christian churches have not only endorsed slavery, but churches have kept slaves themselves... in the case of the Catholic Church, even as late as 1996.

today's society doesn't allow people to have a christian lifestyle.

Why is that? Because Christians can't make everyone follow their rules? Modern society does not stop Christians from following them. Do Christians really need agreement from everyone else?

Every group in America has its detractors, its enemies, and so forth. And among those detractors and enemies, there are always liars. I honestly don't think Christians are lied about any more than atheists and Muslims and Jews and the rich and the poor and geniuses and idiots and Republicans and Democrats and movie stars and common people and dogs and cats and... And that's just lying. Folks are attacked in other ways, too -- as you well know.

But there ain't no use in whining about it, and there especially ain't no use in seeing your own group as just about the only group that's attacked. When you see someone unfairly attacked, you can opt to call out their attacker, if you're so inclined.

The work week is designed to avoid the Christian day of worship.

Every Christian holiday is a government-imposed statutory holiday.

Company uniforms are generally compatible with Christian dress standards.

Jobs that are compatible the tenets of Christianity are commonplace.

Every restaurant and every supermarket has a wide variety of food that's compatible with Christian dietary rules.

Your churches pay no tax.

Many Christian ministers are revered public figures.

What more could you possibly want?
I'll admit to liking state imposed Christian holidays. A guaranteed holiday when you work in retail is pretty sweet

Me too. I'd probably be a bit annoyed if I didn't get, say, Christmas off.

That's the other thing: the Christians have pushed their holidays so much into wider society that they even have non-Christians celebrating them, but then they complain that the non-Christians aren't celebrating them properly and that this is a sign that there's a "war" on their religion. Give me a break.

Of course if one looks into the history of "Christmas" it was merely a pagan holiday that was co-opted. The time of the year is wrong compared to the nativity stories. But since it was already a strong holiday in Rome when Rome became Christian they celebrated Jesus's birth at Saturnalia. Extreme Christians are always complaining that Christmas is not a Christian holiday and for once the extremists are right.

Yeah I've never really understood the martyr complex some Christians have. It's weird.
That said I do tend to celebrate Easter and Xmas with Christians (because my family friends happen to be Christian) and even then we mostly just drink and eat a hungee style BBQ.
Celebrating properly? If you've got good friends/family and good food then you're doing it right IMO.

Kinda sorta. IMO, the fact that Christmas is derived from Pagan practices doesn't make it "not Christian." It just means that this aspect of Christianity is derivative.

A religion is defined by the beliefs and practices of its adherents, not by whether some practice of its adherents was handed down in a way that meets the criteria for authenticity that are held by a subset of the adherents of the religion.

Christians celebrate Christmas as an expression of their religion. That makes Christmas Christian, regardless of its origins.

I was thinking mainly of how some people will freak out if supermarket cashiers will say "happy holidays" instead of "merry Christmas" or freak out if their town puts up a big display in December that says "seasons greetings" instead of "merry Christmas!" They've got the people around them celebrating their holiday, but if those people don't explicitly state that the holiday is for Christians and nobody else, the core group of Christians throws a fit.
