What do you associate with the word "Pagan" ?

While I associate wiccan stuff a lot and european gods, my strongest association is simply "inclusive worship" . Like, worship the deities you feel like without worrying that other deities will get mad about it. Or even simply worship freely without much focus on dogma.

I also very heavily associate it with polytheism.

Probably more of a nature based set of beliefs, with certain rituals but no specific creed, with a God for each element or aspect of nature.

The stories associated with King Arthur also pop into my mind, like Merlin, Lady of the Lake, etc...

Basically when I think of Paganism, I think of a lot of ancient polytheistic pre-Abrahamic religions. I'd suppose what the Christians traditionally refer to as "mythology"...so like Greek Mythology, Babylonian Mythology, Egyptian Mythology, etc.

I never actually answered this did I? Perhaps because I didn't feel like writing up a huge laundry list and other people's answers sounded pretty good to me. :D

Polytheism. Magic. Nature. And college-- I went to school with a lot of Pagans.

European pagan religions, polytheism, pantheism, magic, liberalism, college (I went to college with a lot of Pagans as well :D), freedom, nature.

Sometimes some less flattering ones though, but they're about a few adherents, as opposed to the paths and unfair to put because I know it's just a few :cover:

I know, I'm stereotyping. But the OP asked for associations, and there they are.

Interesting that I don't see any rash of bad comments here. Nothing from anyone saying "misled" or "damned" or "wrong" or anything else. At least, not yet.
