Finished No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam by Reza Aslan. While I normally read books which are about specific subjects in the Islamic world or the Middl East, this book is incredibly written, highly informative and probably much needed in the current social discourse.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I'm re reading Peter Ackroyd's "London: A Biography" in preparation for my upcoming trip to the UK.

I've read many of his books - he's one of my favorite authors when it comes to history. He's such a great writer - poetic when appropriate, blunt at other times - and his research brings the sights, sounds, smells, feelings, tastes, and beliefs of different eras right into the room with you. His biography of Sir Thomas More was so well done that More seemed contemporary and living in this era. When I got to the last chapter late one night, I sighed and thought, "Tomorrow Sir Thomas More will be executed," and I was sad all the next day!

Anyway, "London: A Biography" makes me feel like I am roaming the streets of London thru various eras and peering into the private homes of citizens from every social class. It's fantastic!

It's not ground shaking so far, but I enjoy the conciseness of it's points...
It used to circulate in our archaeology department under the inspiration of our Prehistory teacher, but the truth is I read the book years before that, at this stage it left an impression on me.
Looking forward to reading the follow up books.
Ishmael remains the best one for me.

So I've finished the Song of Ice and Fire series (At least, book 5 - keenly waiting for 6 and 7) by George R. R. Martin
Just put down Fevre Dream, by George R. R. Martin
I'm now halfway through Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

I am reading the original 1818 version of Frankenstein, and then after that I'm going to read the revised 1831 version.
I'm also reading the Annotated Dracula by Leonard Wolf, which is taking some time for me to read with all the side notes.
I recently finished Animal Farm and 1984 is next on my list.
I also started The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, and even though I was liking it for some reason I got side tracked and haven't looked at in awhile. I'll probably go back to that one tonight.

I'm currently reading the Anchor Bible book on 1 Corinthians and Gormenghast. I just finished re-reading the Annotated From Hell.
I'm also always reading books for RPGs that I'll never play. Because it's hard to find people who don't play d20.

Just finished Ill Wind, the first book of the Weather Warden series of books and have suppressed my great desire to start the next book and have instead just started Dawn of Avalon.

I have started rereading the Incarnations of Immortality series, as I loved that series in high school and I haven't read the one about Gaea or God yet, and I recently discovered there is one about Nox.
I've also been reading Spice and Wolf, Vlad: The Last Confession, Deja Dead, and a few textbooks on learning Japanese.
