The Duggers are expecting # 20

Tamar

I am Jewish.
I was watching the today show today and the Duggers were on and had the news that they are expecting child number 20.

I cannot even understand how after the birth last year of their 19th child, they now are expecting again. Their last child spent countless months in the hospital after being born 3 months early.

It all seems to be left up to G-d as to how many kids they have.

What is the reasoning behind this and what is your opinion of having so many kids?

I got my plumbing altered after our second (it was alot easier on me than it would have been on my wife). I want the little buggers out at some point while I'm still young enough to enjoy my retirement.

As long as they love and take care of their kids, they're ahead of most people. Personally, I think they're a little off in the head, but there are plenty of people out there who are a much bigger problem.

Little buggers & little Duggers.....is there a connection?
Do you suppose that Mrs Dugger will eventually reach 42?

This.

Although it may be worth buying a TV and putting it in their bedroom. :D

I agree, but we also don't need people popping out this many kids, considering we're already pretty crowded.

I agree, although I do consider it a bit irresponsible to have another child after the trouble with #19. She had pre-eclampsia, which only increases in terms of severity and likelihood the older she gets (she's 45).

In addition, IMO it's a little wacky to be having children along with your children having children, but yes...there are people who do far worse, I guess.

I agree. Based on personal history, what I don't like is when others not equipped for this lifestyle try to imitate it for similar motivations (which I attribute to a belief system).

Don't be glib....after all, you are their daddy.

haha, well that's true.

But I was being perfectly serious.

Plenty of farmers have 20+ children, and it's so obvious as to the reasons... so much so that no one would bat an eye at it and certainly it wouldn't be a TV show -- just on the premise that he has lots of kids.

It just makes sense that farmers have large families.

But for a suburbanite it's silly and maybe even a bit nuts.

Yeah, my wifes gramma lived on a farm. She lost as many kids as she had.
Pregnancy was no excuse for not mending that fence.
