Your Favorite songs and memorable lines from its lyrics

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Space Cowboy by the Steve Miller Band

"Some people call me the Space Cowboy,
Some call me the gansta of love,
Some people call me Maurice,
Cuz I speak of the pompatus of love.

I realize of course, that my taste is too intellectual for some to grasp.

Thinking about thinking of you
Summertime think it was June
Yeah think it was June
Laying back, head on the grass
Children grown having some laughs
Yeah having some laughs.

Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one

Drinking back, drinking for two
Drinking with you
And drinking was new
Sleeping in the back of my car
We never went far
Needed to go far

Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one

I don't know where we are going now
I don't know where we are going now

Wake up cold coffee and juice
Remembering you
What happened to you?
I wonder if we'll meet again
Talk about us instead
Talk about why did it end

Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one
Made me feel like the one
Made me feel like the one
The one

I don't know where we are going now
I don't know where we are going now

So take a look at me now

Here is a song that no one ever posts on these boards:

Ding, dong, the witch is dead
Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong, the wicked witch is dead!

In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion

Through vast valleys I wonder
To the highest peaks
On pathways through a wild forgotten landscape
In search of God, in spite of man
'til the lost forsaken endless. . .
This is where I choose to tread

Fall. . .so shall we fall into the nihil?
The nothingness that we feel in the arms of the pale
In the shadow of the grim companion who walks with us

Here is the landscape
Here is the sun
Here in the balance of the earth
Where is the god?
Has he fallen and abandoned us?

As I'm stalked by the shadow of death's hand
The fire in my heart is forged across the land

Here at the edge of this world
Here I gaze at a pantheon of oak, a citadel of stone
If this grand panorama before me is what you call God. . .
Then God is not dead

I walked down to a river and sat in reflection of what had to be done
An offering of crimson flowed into the water below
A wound of spirit from which it floated and faded away

. . .like every hope I've ever had. . .
. . .like every dream I've ever known. . .
It washed away in a tide of longing, a longing for a better world
From my will, my throat, to the river, and into the sea. . .
. . .wash away. . .
. . .fade away. . .

Here is the landscape
Here is the sun
Here at the edge of the earth
Where is the god?
Has he fallen to ruin?

As I'm stalked by the shadow of death's hand
My heathen pride is scarred across the land

She may fall, but she'll never lie down

Hey lucky you, lucky me

GBS in general is excellent therapy music. :D

OMG ANOTHER GREAT BIG SEA FAN! I love that band!!!!!!

I love "General Taylor" and "Merrimac," too - as well as the the ones you posted. I think I have nearly all of their albums.

I drive my husband crazy with them on road trips.

Yep! "Toto, I have a feeling we aren't in Kansas anymore". Christine's reply "Gee, Dorothy, what was your first clue.":D:D

I also know a song from Wizard of Oz which goes like "oh, follow, follow the yellow brick road....." I sing it when I was just 10:D

You'd probably think me silly going around singing "We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, we hear he is a wiz of a wiz..."

FOTC- Hiphopopotamous vs. Rhymenocerous

Favorite lines:

They call me the Hiphopopotamous
My lyrics are bottomless...

They call me the hiphopopotamous
flows that glow like phosphorous
poppin' off the top of this esophagus
rockin' this metropolis
I'm not a large water-dwelling mammal
where did you get that preposterous hypothesis
did steve tell you that perchance?
Steve...

My rhymes are so potent
that in this small segment
I made all of the ladies in the area pregnant...
