So here's my thoughts.

IF there is a god (the christian one) and we were indeed made in his/hers image.

Then it would stand to reason that as females are the life bringers, then god as the ultimate life bringer would have to be female.

Discuss.

I would say you are just trying to get browny points from the women.

The way I remember it, do it and like it, it takes two to tango.

Whether God per se, is a man or woman, will really, only matter to the sexist. People are people, and people are equal.

Some are of the view that the Holy Spirit is female.

My view is that God is both male and female (and other). The male represents the Self of the universe and the female is the energy. Everything manifest is made of this female energy. But that is my Hindu view, not Christian.

I don't believe in a gendered God at all, but I'm not Christian. My take on it, though, is:

I take the term of "God the Father" used by the Christians to not mean God is a male. After all, "God is spirit" within Christian beliefs. 'The Father' is supposed to describe the Jud[a]eo-Christian God's qualities and his more masculine roles (as provider and such).

The "made in his image" is supposed to explain our spiritual (as opposed to physical) natures. Others even think that Adam and Eve were born as hermaphrodites to begin with. :D


My view is if God the Father is the masculine aspect of God, then the Holy Spirit is the feminine aspect (shakti).

I think the notion of God being a male in Christianity comes from the fact that God chose to incarnate itself in the form of a man, Jesus. However, Jesus isn't the only incarnation of God, he is merely one of many avatars. If you understand this, God could incarnate as a female, God could incarnate as an animal, or a tree, or a rock. God could incarnate as anything.

Well in my biblical interpretation, he only came down as one avatar, although others will say the times like Eziekel count, but i dont.....

although im not saying im right just that it is my interpretation.:p

Remember that when you read the Bible you are reading a translation from the original Hebrew. With English, the word "God" is neither feminine nor masculine, but was more than likely referred to as a "Him" because Christianity began to flourish in a very patriarchal society. I'm also certain that I once heard that the original word used for God in the Hebrew Bible was feminine and not masculine.

There are several Hebrew names of God that denote a female for sure Jarry. The Ruach is feminine. The Shekinah is feminine. El Shaddai is a feminine aspect of God. The Keter (Crown) in the tree of life is feminine. The Binah and Da'at sephirot in the tree of life are feminine. You have to remember I'm of the opinion that the ancient Israelites were probably either Monist or Monoaltrous before they were Monotheistic, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

God is spirit and must be worshipped in spirit.Although I believe its possible energy may be modern term for spirit. I still believe it would be a personable conscious energy for how can consciousness come from that which isn't conscious.Either way I don't believe there is a sex gender.

In Shia Islam God is not material, as material things can have limitations. God can't be seen by eyes, nor made up of constructs. He is not confined/limited by space or time.
