LOVE..what does this word really means to you

Love to me is this:

If you love something, you are passionate about it, emotional about it, and cannot imagine what you would do if it was gone. I think you can be fond of something, and then if it is gone, you'll be sad, but you'll get over it and you'll still be able to be happy again. If you really really "love" something, if it ever vanishes, you'll not even want to exist anymore, because without that thing, you know you'll never be happy again. I think that would be the strongest kind of love.

Other kinds of love are different, such as "I love pizza." I really really enjoy it. It's great. And if I could never have it again, I'd be sad, but I'd still enjoy life. And it's the same with some of my family. When they die, I think "Oh no... I'm terribly sad!" And I still get sad about it sometimes, but for the most part, I still enjoy living. Other family members, if they were gone, I don't know what I'd do, and that would be the real "love" or maybe it's just being dependant on someone(something)...

My term for true love would be between two people

Basically you have true love when the other becomes a part of you and you apart of them. You feel there pain and joy. You know what they like. You try to make life better for them. Because they are a part of you, you wouldn't want that part to die so if given a choice you would sacrifice for them.

Its how I feel for my wife and my children

For me you can have different forms of love but True love is the ultimate form.

Total acceptance.

Very true. However, total acceptance of someone does not preclude rejecting certain things. For instance, if someone is putting on a false front, we may totally accept them without accepting their false front.

I find it strange that the Greeks had like.. 26 words for different kind of loves, but the English somehow managed to squish them all into one word.
You got to be careful how to say " I love you " in English.....in case someone takes it the wrong way.

My mum wrote 'love' at the end of a letter to an English man once and he took it the wrong way. She felt really bad having to turn down his marriage proposal...

Total acceptance.

I am interested in what you mean, can you elaborate?

She snores, but I love her. I get grumpy, but she loves me. She doesn't put out enough, but I love her. I pester her for sex, but she loves me. She is too untidy, but I love her. I am too obsessive, but she loves me. She is too lenient with the kids, but I love her. I am to hard on the kids, but she loves me. She can't read a map, but I love her. I won't ask for directions, but she loves me. She can't cook much, but I love her. I don't want to cook, but she loves me. She loves me the way I am and I love her the way she is.

are you suggesting there is a kind of love that's not true? i would not believe that. love could be anything except hatred, even lack of love on command is love. i mean, if you consider love as a colour, it has endless shades. each is true on its own. only when we begin to compare, we also begin to say it is true or not.
long relationships..perhabs. some of them based on need tough.
i am already dying for love each second of my life

.
I would say lack of love on command, is a lessor love but still is love. I call it love with awareness.
Yes love has endless shades or many dimensions, and I believe can be expressed in many ways.

What is true love means to you,..does living in a long relationship proves a love between your partner and yourself ?..will you die for love ?

True love is a bond between two creatures, One that the each creature involved is concerned with the other so much that they can give their all and know that their needs will be meet anyway because they are loved. True love is never instant but require hard work and strife and learning. True love does not have to be romantic or human exclusive, animals have been recorded saving other animals at no gain to themselves, one of the crowning points of love is sacrifice.

True love is putting your heart and being into another persons hand, It is saying that you trust them enough to offer yourself to them. Thinking of their needs before your own, yet allowing them the freedom to be themselves and give you their love at their own pace. True love require honesty because honesty is the corner stone of trust and love is nothing without trust. Love does not need to be proven but accepted and trusted, those that ask for proof of love cannot trust in love thus they don't love fully themselves. That is the key reason why love needs to be built.

So what if you don't trust a person's judgement?
Should this affect your ability to love them?

You can doubt a persons judgement if you love them. I think most of the people I love are bat**** insane but I love them enough to tell them how I feel about the odd choices they make, I won't stop them if its in there heart unless it is grossly self destructive. (Suicide) Love is a bond of openess and free expression.

Love is when you want to be with that special person/animal/object and you think in her/him/it all the time and you feel good to be with him/her/it and you won't think twice in risking your live for him/her/it.
