Why did God create us

Madmogwai

I believe it is possible that God who has unlimited power, who can be everywhere simultaneously and is immortal would at some stage become bored.

All this knowledge in an empty void God decided to create the universe and all its contents, without it God would return to an empty void of suffering.

Because of the Joy his many creations bring he loves them deeply and created a storied universe with life on multiple planets in many universes and Dimensions and gave them free will.

Free will enables them to act independently of God and thus entertain thee.

I say Thee because surely God has No genitalia as breeding is not necessary when you create with thought, why would God have a body, hands to grasp are not required, legs to walk, just a thought and he can move.

the different races of different planets in different dimensions have Bodies designed to be vehicles that can physically react and manipulate their world.

It makes no sense that we would be cast in Gods image.

Man’s Ego is so great even though we acknowledge Gods power we imagine God as looking Human despite the fact we know he does need a vehicle to traverse our Planet.

We are in Its image because we are part of It. We are the conscious experience of the Universe.

We create to be. This is it.

And what is Gods image, our soul is Energy as God is Energy.
Our Soul is to God as a drop of water is to the Ocean.
When we live we are as the drop, die we return to the ocean.
Still with our consciousness but no longer needing the Body.
Our soul is yes, but the Bible seems to be saying Gods image as in that of a Human.

A drop is a drop until it is cast into the ocean, but I bet the ocean would still see a part of itself in that drop.

Yes but would God Require our Body, Would you drive a car when you could simply will yourself somewhere

Maybe.

When I drive I get the experience from a different perspective. Say there is an omniscient, omnipotent conscious being separate from the Universe (not my personal belief). In order to be omniscient and omnipotent, it's reasonable that It would have to experience being from different perspectives.

One thing I keep in mind is that the Bible is a compilation of tribal and ritual mythology for very specific groups of people. Tribal gods inspire their people by having some sort of identity with them. So Yahweh created the Jews in his image so that they could identify with him. The same with how the Norse and Greek gods look and act human.

Transcendental deities are less anthropomorphic primarily because instead of inspiration towards outward action, they force the seeker to look inward, reflect on the deepness of the pool rather than simply catching fish to bring to the tribe.

You are not created by any god. You came about via atoms and molecules, and is easily observed by which no alleged god is present or involved in the process whatsoever.

The all knowing God should know all perspectives without stepping into a physical body which he created

I don't think of God creating us. As though some being thought to itself and determined to take this creative action. I think that what we call existence emanates from a "God-source" that is beyond our comprehension. And is a part of that source. It's not 'creator/created'. It's all of a single whole.

I agree

I tend to lean in the direction that "image" in this context may refer to that which may be inside us that is in some way attached to others, whereas we can "tap into" that for at least some spiritual guidance.

My old "Signature Statement" used to be "Whatever caused this universe/multiverse I'll call 'God' and pretty much just leave it at that". Even though I no long have that as my statement, nevertheless this is what I tend to lean towards.

I don't know who or what created us, or even if we were "created," whether intentionally or unintentionally. I suppose it's possible that our existence might be some kind of accident, or maybe even the work of some alien mad scientist. I can't even guess as to the possible motives why someone would intentionally design an entire universe, although considering that humans are confined to a relatively tiny air bubble inside that vastness, it seems our role in this enterprise is equally tiny and insignificant - if we have any role at all.

Sometimes I think religion is not so much about "God" as much as it's about humans attempting to exaggerate their own importance in the universe.

We are tiny and insignificant in our own mind but what makes us significant is that God has told and shown us we are significant to Him.
