Why Do They Do It?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Possessive nature. You take out what you think is yours.

I think it treads along the line of psychopaths.

Some people think they own other people. Like property.

Because obviously there are no other ways to kill...there were no murders before guns were invented. None.
The fact is that one generally has to go to greater lengths, with more premeditation, to kill a person by means other than simply pulling a trigger. Even killing someone with a blow to the head requires first finding an object and then actually making physical contact with the other person. That gives vital seconds to think, and maybe come out of the red mist a bit. Also, the outcome is a lot less likely to be lethal. The US has by far the highest homicide rate of any developed country. And those deaths are largely by gunshot.

Let's see if I want to use a gun, first I have to buy one, then it's usually stored somewhere safe so I have to go get it before I use it on some one. Seems like a baseball bat would be cheaper and quicker.

And more personal, gun killers don't want personal because it gets to close and personal (d'oh) and possibly has more chance of going wrong. I for instance am capable of putting anyone who attacks me close up into a great deal of agony while they recover in a hospital bed. Other people have trained in defense martial arts to so gun killers don't have the balls to face that sort of thing.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but it could be "extended suicide". In these cases, the perpetrators often believe that they have failed as the breadwinner of the family, and that the spouse and children would be better off dead than alive but with "inadequate provision of material necessities."

I don't know but I am going to disagree with most people here: It is not lack of love per se. We don't kill people just because we don't love them... That's simply not how it works.
True, something much more malevolent is going on...

malevolent
mə-lĕv′ə-lənt
adjective
  1. Having or exhibiting ill will; wishing harm to others; malicious.
  2. Having a harmful influence.
  3. Wishing evil; disposed to injure others; rejoicing in another's misfortune.
    malevolent - definition and meaning

Most people experience mental health problems at some point in their lives. Not all have adequate access to help. Republicans routinely blame mental health problems for mass shootings, so you would think there would an effort by congress to have healthcare access more available.
Mental problems certainly affects one's actions, but would you agree, it would have to be a severe mental problem, for a truly loving person to kill their children?

Some (Religious) people claim:
"There is not even 1 'good' person"
(All humans are corrupted in some way)
(Nobody is w/o flaw)

IF true
THEN all people should be able to understand violence in some way
When you say, "should be able to understand violence in some way", what do you mean? I don't understand. Can you explain please?

But specific violence, as in this case, when never done it, is unimaginable why do it
Good question. James 3:13-18

Knowing how violence originates it is possible to know why it happens...the person has withdrawn himself even more from his "spiritual" heart, desensitized himself

(people eat meat, but not their own dogs usually, unless they are desensitized)

(the hangman or hitman must have been desensitized a lot to be able to do his job)

The more sensitive you are, the more you experience the Divine

Interesting. I understand, to some extent... though not fully. :)

I agree it’s definitely a lack of love...

...And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:12

I think as we near the end of the age
the demonic influence grows ever stronger and I think we can expect to see more people succumb to hateful behaviors. When people are unaware or deny the devil and demonic spiritual beings and/or are not on guard then they’re thoughts and actions are easily influenced and manipulated.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “
–Ephesians 6:12

As well as wondering how someone could kill their child, how could anyone torture their own little daughter and allow others to for porn?

I agree with this completely.

All evidence points to a lack of love... at least, tha what I see.
The lovers who had since been cohabiting after welcoming a baby, had a fight from an altercation, which resulted in the breaking of the phone belonging to the man. Unhappy about this, the lady’s boyfriend went for a machete and hacked his girlfriend to death.

Notice, they said, two lovers, but if you love someone, would you be so angry with them, that your love instantly turns to hate, and you hack them to death, like you would, a centipede, because they broke your phone? No. He did not love her. He hated her.

I was very angry at what someone, whom I love, did to me, and seeing that person made me hurt over again, but I though of them... not with hate, and my love and care for them, made me concerned about them, and their welfare. I didn't want to hurt them. I couldn't. That's what love is. Isn't it?

You don't think about hurting them... or anyone.
Man stabs his children [two young boys aged 8 and 6] to death to spite his wife
What?
“The boys’ mother recently left the house due to martial disputes, fleeing from her husband’s violence," the source said, adding that a heated verbal altercation erupted recently between the couple "over the boys’ school expenses and resulted in the man insulting and beating his wife in front of neighbors,” sources said.

During investigations, the family’s neighbours stressed that as soon as the wife left the home, the husband took revenge on her by killing the children, using a kitchen knife. After the first child was killed, the second one tried to run away and scream, but his father immediately caught him, and stabbed him several times to death.

What? Why kill the children? He obviously has no love. He thinks only of self. It's obvious. Isn't it?

This raises another question. Question for all.
Could it be, one of the reasons people murder in these ways is "lax" laws?
If the laws against these crimes were more serious, would that deter people, or cause them to think twice... Or would that cause more murder suicides?

I think it would cause more murder suicides, because it's evident the minds of these people are being influenced.
To carry out these acts... especially when you are not accustomed doing this on a daily basis, doesn't seem normal to me.

What do you guys think?

Killing one's family is very largely a male act. Women kill their families much more rarely.

A common triggering factor is when the female partner states an intention to leave the relationship, which directly threatens the subject male's self-identity as a male ─ 'unraveling' is sometimes the word used.

Intrinsic to such acts is the male's sense of losing control of his life and its meaning to him.

It's not a one-size-fits-all explanation, but it's the central one.
You seem to be describing ego, or extreme pride which centered on self - selfishness.
So, that would hinder love or be fueled by lack of love, wouldn't it?

No doubt it varies as to why some kill members of their own family - their partner, children, or all - but one reason, even if delusional (and most doing so probably are delusional in some manner) might be that they want to relieve their victims from future suffering - financial hardships and such. Hence love might be there but some irrational thought overrides this. It also might involve religious beliefs - as to expectations of any afterlife. On the other hand, one of the most common reasons probably is in getting revenge on a partner - as to killing those who are loved - and more driven by hate.
Thanks for these.
However, I was more looking at a root cause.
Looking at all these, I can sum them all up as a lack of love for others.

If one loves their children, they would not think that killing them to spare them from hardships in this world is loving, because life or living, has its joys as well, and if that excuse they thought up were true, they would have thought about it, before they brought the child into the world.
People know life isn't always easy, yet they get children.

If one truly loves another, they would not want to hurt them, or kill their dog, cat, or child, to cause the person hurt. That person doesn't even love domestic animals... far less, children.
They only think of what they want. Not true.

(Proverbs 12:10) The righteous one is caring for the soul of his domestic animal, but the mercies of the wicked ones are cruel.

Because they've got GUNS.
I understand gun violence is a hot topic today, and the political issues surrounding gun possession.

Some do think that having less access to guns would hinder crimes like these.
I think that was hinted at, in this video (5:15).

However, people without guns commit these gruesome crimes on children, many times.
A Florida man stabbed his estranged wife to death and ran over her body with his car Sunday night before murdering his two young children and committing suicide as police closed in.
Officials believe Brown killed his son and daughter before committing suicide as officers surrounded him.
It was not clear how Brown killed the children, or how he killed himself.

It was not with a gun, though.

Dad ‘stabbed himself in the neck after knifing daughter, 1, and son, 3, to death’

A California man has confessed to killing his 2-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter with a spearfishing gun

Man stabs his four children to death in South Africa after accusing their mother of cheating and infecting him with HIV
...the lifeless bodies of three children aged 09, 07 and 05 were found in the nearby bushes and that of a 3 year old was found next to the local mountain, at about 3 kilometers from the first scene.

Three of the children were found with stab wounds. The youngest was found with open wounds...

A 32-year-old man stabbed to death his two children at Kiganjo estate in Thika town, Kiambu and then attempted to kill himself by taking poison.
Thika Police boss Willy Simba said the suspect, Mr James Kioho stabbed his two children, a seven-year-old son and a girl aged two years.

Simba said the two children had deep wounds in the chests adding that the suspect tried to take poison after committing the crime inside his house.

So, while possessing a gun puts a child's life in danger, it is not the reason people kill their children.

I'm more interested though, in how a parent can murder their child... just like that. It doesn't matter the weapon.

Fair enough. Human motives - and mistakes - are a complex subject. One would need a psychologist to unravel the factors.

However, without universal gun ownership, there would a lot fewer of these pointless deaths, because the most ready means of lethal force would not be generally available.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
That certainly sums it up. That's what I am seeing.

Never looked at it that way, but that's a good point. Selfish obsession. Sounds like an extreme form selfishness. Certainly a lack of love or natural affection for others.
Children seem to be becoming less loved these days.
It's hard to fathom how someone can abuse, rape and murder children.
