Hiya. Yes, hopefully you've noticed the notification thing in the top right hand corner? The notifications can be for various things, usually because of a quoted response or a reaction such as Like, Optimistic or whatever. There's Catholics here as well as unwashed godless communists.
Think there might be a few clean ones, too.

There are alerts without email, and there are alerts which also generate email. You have the option to turn either of these on or off.
You have several options. If you are using a PC or laptop go to https://www.religiousforums.com/account and you will see 'Alert Preferences' on the left side. Click that, and you'll have a few options.
In addition on the left site click 'Preferences' . You'll see some check boxes, and one of these allows you to automatically watch threads you interact with and receive emails. This is not necessary however, because when you visit an RF thread there is always an option near the top of the thread to watch the thread and it also allows you to select an email notification.
Alerts here are not guaranteed. Sometimes you may miss one. I think its a technical issue. I think what happens is that after 20 (or so) alerts the system forgets older ones. Choosing email alerts may help, but I have never tried that.
