Jesus' Four Failed Prophecies About Him Returning In The Lifetimes Of His Apostles

You said that the Holy Spirit that was sent at Pentecost was only sent to the disciples.

Actually, there were more than 120 disciples (followers of Jesus) in that upper room.

Are you saying that, when the Holy Spirit came to rest upon Jesus at His baptism, that Spirit was Bahaullah?
No, Baha'u'llah was not Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Bounty of God.
God sent the Holy Spirit to Baha'u'llah and it came to rest upon Baha'u'llah, just as it had come to rest upon Jesus.
The Holy Spirit first came to Baha'u'llah in the Black Pit prison.

A revelation from God - The Life of Bahá'u'lláh

This is how He described the experience.

“O KING! I was but a man like others, asleep upon My couch, when lo, the breezes of the All-Glorious were wafted over Me, and taught Me the knowledge of all that hath been. This thing is not from Me, but from One Who is Almighty and All-Knowing. And He bade Me lift up My voice between earth and heaven, and for this there befell Me what hath caused the tears of every man of understanding to flow.” Proclamation of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 57

“God is My witness, O people! I was asleep on My couch, when lo, the Breeze of God wafting over Me roused Me from My slumber. His quickening Spirit revived Me, and My tongue was unloosed to voice His Call.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 90

“And whenever I chose to hold my peace and be still, lo, the voice of the Holy Ghost, standing on my right hand, aroused me, and the Supreme Spirit appeared before my face, and Gabriel overshadowed me, and the Spirit of Glory stirred within my bosom, bidding me arise and break my silence.Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 103

Perhaps that is true, but that still does not explain how the Holy Spirit could have come to live inside of every Christian to this very day, as Christians believe it does.

"Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full". John 16:24
John 16:12-13 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:25
“I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.

In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”

That day has come, as Baha'u'llah has told us plainly about the Father.

I do ask for help from the Father in Jesus' name.

Muffled

Jesus in me
I don't know--there are so many different opinions on what exactly Jesus was saying. I think all these opinions resulted from him being a no-show during the first 100 years when everyone was looking for him. It's expected that people who believed he would return would start to invent all sorts of crazy excuses for why he never returned, the most common being he did return but not in the way we expected.

I believe illogical opinions don't count for much. I believe a logical approach reveals that He could not have come yet.

Trailblazer That day has come, as Baha'u'llah has told us plainly about the Father.

samtonga43 said: That day has indeed come -- at Pentecost, almost 2000 years before the appearance of Baha'u'llah.

No that day did not come at Pentecost, because the Holy Spirit that was sent at Pentecost did not speak anything.
Only men can speak and shew you plainly to the Father.

John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

It was because of the Holy Spirit falling upon the church at Pentecost that the world heard the Good News of Christ.

It was because the disciples carried the gospel message far and wide that the world heard the Good News of Christ. Then people became Christians and they continued to spread the gospel message.

Yes, he did--and millions of Christians even today who believe this stuff and buy those ridiculous rapture/tribulation/2nd coming books. But at least I wised up. ;) Did you?
The second coming of the same man Jesus is completely refuted in the New Testament, yet Christians continue to believe in it, year after year, decade after decade. It takes a Baha'i who does not even know the Bible very well to point this out, post after post.
Yet not one Christian can explain why Jesus said these things if He is "coming back."
It is all psychological. They want Jesus and just cannot face the reality that Jesus is not coming back.

John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

In my opinion, the people who are most responsible for this erroneous belief are the rapture-pushing huckster authors who make a fortune peddling this nonsense to gullible Christians. If you were an author and you had a sure-fire formula plot line for a book that would be an instant bestseller by virtue of it having an immediate audience of 100 million wet-behind-the-ears greenhorns wouldn't you take it? I sure would. That's why there are literally 10,000 books out there on anything having to do with the end times. It's the biggest $$$$-maker out there.

Much of this is attributable to the horrible times we live in. Christians who follow this stuff just want to be raptured out of here and be in a beautiful place where there's no sickness or pain or unhappiness. I have sad news for them. It's just not going to happen. I believed it for 40 years and here I still am here on earth after about 10 major rapture date failures since I first started believing this stuff. Thankfully I'm 10 years back in reality.
