Proposed bill would require men in Alabama to get vasectomy

How about you stop pretending that the Republicans are champions of individual rights and freedoms?
Realize that neither wing of the Republocratic party are interested in that sort of claptrap once they've gotten elected and can do what they were bribed to do?
Tom

While not perfect in some areas, they are far more the champions of individual rights and freedoms than the socialist Democrats are, and likely ever will be.

I can well imagine that wealthier white straight guys would think so.

The rest of us, not so much.
That's probably why there are so many more Democrats than Republicans.

Oh.

Oh wow.

You're still under the impression that it was a serious bill they actually intended to pass and enforce?

That's pretty damn sad.
What's pretty damn sad is using actual political bills that have potential real-world repercussions.

Oh wow is right.

Again, provide us with that tally.
You're probably hesitant because you know that you've painted yourself into a corner.

By that I suppose, given the converse, you must be referencing the poorer black gay guys who would think not.

Maybe we should get a tally made and line it up side by side and see who wins the prize on who is actually more oppressive of individual rights and liberties.
Republicans are known for saying I can take a back seat a be a second class citizen and not fully entitled like Conservative Christians.

This thread is about some show boating in Alabama.
The Republicans want to limit freedom and personal choice. A Democrat proposed a similar government intrusion into people's personal lives, only it was guy's lives.
Suddenly, the Democrats are the party of big intrusive government again. Because they opposed big government intrusion by Republicans.

Do you not see the irony here?

And frankly, I'm opposed to unrestricted feticide rights. But dang. The Republicans are trying to limit personal freedom, and you're not talking about that. You keep insisting that it's the Democrats?!

What's with that?

Exactly.
Republicans are all about big government when it's used to control people. Democrats are about big government helping people.

Well, that's liberal speak for you.

In reality, conservatives are about big government controlling social behavior
liberals are about big government controlling fiscal behavior. Take the emotional baggage out of it, if you please. Both sides are about 'helping people.' Just in their own way.

In MY view, liberals want to do what they want to do, the way they want to do it (socially) and 'think rightly' and be comfortable and make everybody else pay for it AND toe the line. I've been around quite awhile now, and frankly, it is the liberals who want to take the money and run.

In MY view, conservatives want everybody to be moral, and not do drugs, and behave themselves according to traditional more's ...and leave the ability to get rich open to all, with the liberty (freedom) to do, say, think and worship (or not) as they wish.

It is pretty obvious that these two main goals can sometimes run into each other. However, it generally settles down to "liberals want everybody to think the way they do and will punish anybody who thinks or speaks differently" and "conservatives want more freedom of action, but everybody had better have the same values we do."

As for me, I'm about....everybody should be free to say, think or be whoever they wanna be. 'Political correctness" is a by word and a curse.

Oh, yeah, BTW, in "nany socialist iron fisted" blue California, when I got my driver's license picture taken here they let me wear my glasses, and they also let me smile. Indiana allows neither.
