What does it really mean to live a spiritual life/lifestyle?
That's a great question and one I'm having trouble answering. I guess it's because I've not succeeding in doing so. How can a young child know what it's like to be an adult? The child is trying, failing, trying again, failing again and finally succeeding in mastering skills. Eventually the child becomes an adult.

But continuing on this analogy, I'm working on mastering living up to my highest and best understandings of what a spiritual lifestyle is and slowly learning from every failure and every little success.

And what am I trying? Doing my best but not being attached to results. Trying to love those who I cannot love. Trying to be truthful in any and all circumstances. Trying to let go of lower motivations which are in Christian terms called "deadly sins". Trying to be ever more earnest about my goals. Trying to be gentle with myself when I fail - note the failure and move on with the knowledge that is how a child learns new skills.

Maybe that's a spiritual lifestyle.

Trying to display the “fruitages of the spirit” in our course of life.
Galatians 5:22-23 mentions them.

And not giving in to “works of the flesh”, highlighted in Galatians 5:19-21.

Spiritual life is a conscious desire for union with God ...
But it has several stages and at different stages it looks different.

---------------------------

Stages of the Spiritual Path

A person who starts walking confidently the religious Path can go through the following seven stages of it:

1. Acquiring the correct understanding of our highest Goal and the ways of its attainment.

2. Initial ethic self-correction in accordance with the intention of God through elimination of ethic imperfections as well as through the development of required qualities, of which love is the principal one.

3. Refinement of oneself as a consciousness in order to get into the highest planes (eons or lokas) of the multidimensional space, of which the Abode of the Primordial Universal Consciousness — God-the-Father, the Creator — is the subtlest.

4. Quantitative development of the refined consciousness.

5. Mastering the methods of merging with God.

6. Consolidation of Mergence with God.

7. Acquiring Divine powers — and providing help to other incarnate beings from the state of the Holy Spirit.

For the majority of the readers, deceived by the atheistic and sectarian propaganda, this may sound surprising and even implausible. But this is exactly what God has been teaching people throughout the entire history of mankind — through prophets or Himself, appearing before people in human bodies of Messiahs, Avatars, and Christs (all these words mean the same in different languages).

The meaning of our lives consists in the development of ourselves as consciousnesses, first within our temporary abodes — our bodies, and then beyond them — in the boundless multidimensional universe.

This development has two major directions: qualitative and quantitative.

The former consists of the following three components: intellectual and ethic perfection and refinement of the consciousness.

The quantitative aspect implies a direct increase of the amount of the energy of the individual consciousness, which subsequently — using special meditative techniques — infuses into the Ocean of the Universal Consciousness, Who may be called differently in different languages: the Creator, God-the-Father, Jehovah, Allah, Tao, Ishvara, Primordial Consciousness, Adibuddha, etc.

I want to say thank you to both those who already have answered my OP and those who will answer later :) I found a lot of good advice in all the answers
But an extra question comes to mind :)

Are you good at following the spiritual path you are on your self? are you working on becoming better t it? or d you see it more as a belief then a teaching one must cultivate to gain wisdom from it?

To walk humbly with one's God. I often think of Tavian in 'The Fiddler on the Roof.', always aware of being in God's presence.
Or one who realizes her/his connection with the universe.

Technically, it is a life similar to Essenes, abandoning ties to physical world to a max. Spent time in meditation practices as much as possible 'Train your senses' to be in spiritual world. Work as little as necessary to provide minimum living conditions. Share.
