[vitue] Why is contentedness not good?

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

Not good but great.

Depending of course on the source of the contentedness.

Eg, i am content that my children are assimilated into school in a foreign land with a foreign language and are doing well.

Why is this bad?

Because it might be that Brahman SalixIncendium act-ualy isn't?

Good to investigate that topic, good.

We need an accepted working definition if "good" for the purpose of this discussion, and I have work, so I must pick this up later.

As long as Brahman SalixIncendium feels content with it. His business should be no problem here. Brahm google may keep it alive, the topic and access.

And thats bad? Why?
That's what Brahman @SalixIncendium asked in the OP. My person would say that practicing contentment is categorical good, nor whould he say that practicing contentment is categorical bad.
Householder ChristineM told before, that it is great, to be content. If so, where is this greatness gone?

Because when you become content you will resist change. You would rather sit on you fat *** eating cheetos and playing video games rather than do anything to improve yourself or your situation.

... and how long will this contentment last? At some point physical health will diminish and the individual above will suffer? Also boredom and loneliness are uncomfortable for many people.

This life is no place to rest but there are people who seem to believe that will give them happiness. They become content within confusion and satisfied with their own miserly and miserable existence. They want what is petty and small and they achieve nothing in this life. Not for themselves or others, it is like they were never here in the first place. All for contentment and "happiness"

It's a short-sided approach to contentment. If these people are actually content, is it sustainable?

I consider 'contentedness' a good thing. All we have is NOW to be happy. All experiences are only experienced NOW.

Contentedness does not mean you can't work to make things better, but you realize it was not meant to be a perfect world for a reason.

Contentedness is un-American!
Contented people lack the virtues of competition and aggressiveness that made America great.
Contentedness is the opiate of the people!
