Why is Islam so dangerous?

This expert talks about critical thinking.

The sad thing is that other Sri Lankan Muslims had turned the would be bombers into the police sometime earlier. So they knew something had gone horribly wrong. At least 2 of the men were from affluent families and had studied abroad.

Since the bombing one of the bombers family has been wiped out in a firefight that killed 16 police officers.

Have you read about the Islamic invasions of India? It's considered by many as the largest genocide in history. One diary one guy (forget his name right now) bragged to have slaughtered 150 000 Hindus in a single day.

Please don't tell me you believe it it never happened.

Of course these things happened but what I’m saying is it wasn’t because of any commandment of God or the Quran. It was political conquest misusing religion. Genocide is against the laws of God and the Quran.

I don't know where you get that load of crap but I do know it is not from any reliable statistic or facts.

Study: "Spritual" people more likely to commit crimes than atheists

Atheists much less likely to commit crimes than religious people (jails report)

I just showed you that Quran (8:39) supports killing people under certain circumstances.
Are you in total denial or what?
How much proof do you need?

I don't know if you are joking at this point but for whatever reason violence has been a part of Islam from day one based on history facts. The scriptures might be meant to be peaceful but reality tells a different story.

I didn't say that and I don't believe any person committing a crime represents the religion.
What we're trying to identify is why most terrorists invoke Islam as their inspiration. THEY DON'T REPRESENT ISLAM but nevertheless they do use Islam scriptures as their motive. Islam has a problem and many smart Muslims acknowledge that.
Have you heard of Maajid Nawaz?
Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Reform Islam to save it from extremists

I think you meant the opposite of what you wrote.
You said the passage DOES NOT condone the killing of civilians ...
Anyway I do believe the passage doesn't say anything about treating warriors and civilians in different ways.
When it says "convert or die", Is that addressed at warriors or civilians or at all of them?
When women are taking as slaves, aren't women civilians?
It looks like you pretend you know something I don't why don't you be kind enough to tell me where I'm wrong.
My role is to see how an extremist would use this passage to do what they do.
Is it justified for ISIS to use this passage as an example of how to behave in a war scenario? Yes or no?

They used primarily Hadiths which are in contradiction to what the Quran says. The Quran forbids murder and only permits self defense.

By religion and spiritual I’m referring to what the Prophets have said such as thou shalt not kill and love they neighbour. Obviously one cannot be religious according to these teachings and kill at the same time.

To be truly religious means to be virtuous, loving and peaceful. My definition of religion comes from the Holy Books not skill or what the 6 o’clock news says.

A terrorist according to the Quran is not a Muslim because the Quran teaches to do good deeds not evil things.

According to you, but not according to the perpetrators. Theirs, from their POV, was a just and necessary genocide.

This is why I prefer religions, and especially scriptures that leave no room whatsoever for any possible interpretation or translation that would suggest violence. Unfortunately and sadly, many scriptures leave it open, with many possible interpretaions, one of which is to take to violence.

Many or most Muslims never read the Quran but rely on what they are told in sermons. That’s a major problem in many religions that the followers just follow the priest or Mulla and don’t investigate truth for themselves. If they did I believe they would not have agreed to such massacres.

Try telling them that.

They don’t follow the Quran but their Imam or Caliph. That’s the whole problem.

The Bible teaches ‘thou shalt not kill’ and love thy neighbor and even enemies but who is it that shouts out ‘death to Israel’ and ‘death to America’? You will find it comes from the Imam or Caliph not the Holy Books. And their followers blindly follow and believe everything they say.

You don't know that.

There is no excuse. If a person can't figure out for themselves that violence is wrong, the society that supports that needs a real head shaking. The Quran and Bible (and some Hindu scriptures) are chock full of violence. Little wonder people find something that supports their own instinctive brutal nature.

Which verses specifically are you referring to because the laws of the Old Testament were based on the Ten Commandments so one cannot justify murder using the law thou shalt nit kill.

In the Gospels again Jesus emphasis was on love and forgiveness hardly a basis with which to base violence upon.

With Hinduism the war Krishna fought was after He tried to make peace first. Even the Jews were attacked by the Amalekites for 500 years before going to war with them.

In Islam Muslims were persecuted in Mecca for 13 years. On Muhammad’s watch there was no offensive warfare.

The thing is any clever tyrant can start a war. The Germans believed in Hitler so it doesn’t take religion to kill 6 million Jews. The words wars were not religious either. Violence is not caused by religion but any cause can blind people to kill one another.

True religion teaches only love and unity. You have to cherry pick to the extreme to just focus on violence or more likely believe a pope or caliph. But religion forbids murder. It’s clear in the Holy Books. Terrorists have manuals that are not what 1.7 billion peaceful Muslims read. That’s why they’re terrorises. For Muslims it’s the Quran. For terrorists it’s the terrorist manual. Not the same thing. But religion can be abused I’m not saying it hasn’t been just that it teaches to be good not evil.

Never read either scripture, (certainly don't intend to) just going by what others have shown and stated on RF multiple times.
