Dude is wearing a Burzum shirt... sorry to say, but at least his idol is probably even worse than you think.

I agree that the guy is probably supremacist. Based on the church and the targets it's more than likely. Black metal isn't about that though.

It's a style of music

Interesting when you take out the White Supremacy and racism suddenly it's not much of a story anymore and you don't hear politicians and celebrities grandstanding and exploiting it. It seems it wasn't a hate crime against blacks but the Baptist church and it's beliefs which may not be considered a hate crime apparently.

From article:

"Four days before his arrest in connection with the three Louisiana Baptist church fires, Holden Matthews expressed disgust with Baptist beliefs on Facebook, CNN has learned.
Responding to a post about "afrikan spirituality," Matthews, posting under the name Noctis Matthews, said he cannot "stand all these baptists around here, bunch of brainwashed people trying to find happiness in a religion that was forced on their ancestors just as it was on mine."
In the posting, Matthews said he wished that, "more blacks [sic] people would look into ancient beliefs of pre Christian Africa."
An acquaintance, Nygyl Bryyn, confirmed to CNN the profile and alias is that of Holden Matthews. He says his friend is not racist and believes the churches were, "victims of circumstances."

It seems some in the media and others actually needed a White Nationalist to be the culprit to continue their narratives. About the only thing that comes close to implicating White Nationalism as a possible motive is a comment Holden Matthews made about a picture on social media when another poster thought a belt looked like a swastiska.
“the belt gives him extra strength and power…..white power lmao jk jk I had to.”
Doesn't sound much like a Nazi to me
Because without this incident, white supremacy would have had an unimpeachable reputation?

WWMRD?
Well, its most certainly a hate crime.

Which is something I wondered about, it seems it was hate against Baptists yet somehow it may not be prosecuted as a hate crime. I imagine if this were some denomination of Muslim or Jewish religion it would be.

I'm pretty sure they were black Baptist churches.

Stanyon doesn't think that burning black churches is racist.

From the article it appears that racism was not his driving motivation but rather hatred against Baptists. Also in the article was a statement from the arsonist that he wished black people would study their traditional religions that have pre -Christian roots and that he identified with them because he felt Christianity was forced upon them and himself. I imagine a racist would not have these concerns nor identify in any way with whoever they were hating.

In a sense he may have felt he was doing them a favour by burning down a symbol of Christianity which he saw as his and their oppressor. He seemed to show concern for black peoples forced religious indoctrination and identified with them..

Stanyon, the self proclaimed "liberal progressive" don't you have something better to do than defend church arsonists?? I'm wondering if you've ever met a racist person, as you don't seem to believe in racism
