For Evolutionists and a Few Open Minded Creationists

Skwim

Veteran Member
This is only posted for debate between evolutionist and those creationists who won't take offense at a few irrelevant, but insulting, names and remarks. It's a video of a compilation of creationists memes. If you're a creationist and can do this then I invite you to watch the video in the SPOILER and give us your thoughts.

If you don't think you can do this please do not open the SPOILER and watch the video.

YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED

You would have to be willing to learn and able to dispassionately compare your beliefs to those based upon science. Do you think that you can do that? Do you think that you can keep your fear at bay?

I would as long as you at least try to acknowledge what I say, you can reject it, but at least acknowledge it. And I will try my best to to acknowledge your thoughts.

As far as fear, I guess I have been proven to be a fool, since I identify as a Christian, and well you know the old saying, "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread".

If you reject something you need to have a valid reason. Not just because your false belief in creationism demands it.

By the way, your first error is conflating creationism with Christianity. Most Christians probably do not believe the myths of Genesis. In fact to do so you call God a liar, though you probably do not realize it. There are countless Christians that accept the theory of evolution.

How about we begin with the scientific method. Here is a simple illustration that should get the gist across:

Do you have any questions or objections yet?

OK, but, as you point out Creationists and Christians do have differing views. Just so we get a understanding of what I feel so we are not arguing to find out latter we are arguing the same thing, I want to say I do believe parts of evolution to be true. But, I also believe in Creation, or at least a beginning of life from somewhere else besides earth.

The video says Creationists are 'ignorant fools' so that is what I am addressing.

It is getting late and I am getting tired. I can continue in the morning as it is Sunday and I do not need to work, but do have a few things to do. I also want to say I will only reply to you or Skwim, anyone else I will not respond unless I feel compelled. The reason is that I work and only have a few hours in the evening or night I can respond. Being a Creationist I know I will be outnumbered and will need to stay focused and keep my concentration on our conversation. To many conversations can be confusing for me.

Hey, @Misunderstood , hope you're well. I'm an IDer, a creationist I guess, but not a Young Earth Creationist (YEC).
The evidence from geology and astronomy supports an ancient Earth and this presents no conflict with the Scriptures, in my understanding. Just curious, are you a YEC?

@Skwim , I have a question: can you provide more information on those 9 species of fish in the shallow waters off Australia? Thanks.

What to expect from people who read ancient texts literally and as science books. Not many of the writers literally believed anything close to what modern day YECs do. So they're not presenting even the viewpoint they've espoused correctly. It's all about preference and desire to indoctrinate. Before the internet, you wouldn't hear about YEC except on some newspaper column making fun of some fringe in the US. Even our fundies didn't sell the idea.

One cannot be a creationist and not be ignorant, unless he is very dishonest. It may sound harsh but there is no such thing as an informed honest creationist.

What!?! You won't be here 24/7 to respond?

Seriously do not worry. Answer when you can.

That's only true for you because you can't accept a claim on faith alone. So, you're making an argument that would only persuade people who would already agree with you. Preaching to the choir.

Plz define "faith" as applied here.

We all accept countless claims "on faith alone"
every freakin' day.

Unless maybe by faith you mean
"For absolutely no reason other than maybe
emotional."

You pulled my comment out of context (religious faith) in order to find fault with it. That's a bad habit.

That is a weird response. There is no "out of context" nor was it
a try at finding fault. You on the other hand are trying to find.
that is, concoct, fault(s), three of them in fact.

There's a bad habit. So is trying to turn the q. back on
the one who askec it..

You pack a lotta bs into a line and a half!

If you dont care to say what you actually mean by "faith"
that's fine. It may well be you were just saying things
like throwing darts. Who knows, one may land on
something.

OK, enlighten me, 'How are you using faith in relation to science? I hope you are following some sort of definitions that fit the English language and how it is properly used, and not a religious agenda.
