Saint Muammar Gaddafi

I wrote this nursery rhyme. Just picture children in kindergarten singing it instead of an adult! (the "for he's a jolly good fellow" part isn't my work)

The last thing I would do is defend a Sunni Dictator. So, here it goes.

I met a former muslim in real life who lived with the Palestinians in the middle east. He shared with me why Gaddafi was a hero.

"Here are some Facts you probably do not know about Libya under Muammar Gaddafi:
There was no electricity bills in Libya; electricity is free … for all its citizens.
• There was no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.
• If a Libyan is unable to find employment after graduation, the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.
• Should Libyans want to take up a farming career, they receive farm land, a house, equipment, seed and livestock to kick start their farms –this was all for free.

Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.
A home was considered a human right in Libya. (In Qaddafi’s Green Book it states: “The house is a basic need of both the individual and the family, therefore it should not be owned by others.”)
All newlyweds in Libya would receive 60,000 Dinar (US$ 50,000 ) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start a family.
• A portion of Libyan oil sales is or was credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens.
• A mother who gives birth to a child would receive US $5,000
When a Libyan buys a car, the government would subsidizes 50% of the price.
• The price of petrol in Libya was $0.14 per liter.
• For $ 0.15, a Libyan local could purchase 40 loaves of bread.
Education and medical treatments was all free in Libya. Libya can boast one of the finest health care systems in the Arab and African World. All people have access to doctors, hospitals, clinics and medicines, completely free of charge.
• If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government would fund them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US $2,300/month accommodation and car allowance.
• 25% of Libyans have a university degree. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans were literate. Today the figure is 87%.
Libya had no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – though much of this is now frozen globally.

Finally, the gold bullion held by the Libyan Central Bank (March 2011) was among the 25 largest reserves in the world, as reported by the Financial Times, .

So, sounds to good to be true right?
It can all be verified by many sources.

He had some sympathies for the wrong people, I will admit.

Let's not forget, even the wonderful Barack Hussein Obama also funded terrorists and was responsible for many deaths.

Even Barak Hussein says that his intervention in Libya was the worst mistake of his presidency
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016...presidency
Obama said planning for the aftermath was the worst mistake of his presidency. Read between the lines. Obama couldn't plan any differently unless he sent troops there to police the place like in Iraq. Obama would never do that. Therefore, if you read between the lines, Obama severely regrets intervening in the first place as the worst mistake of his presidency.

Finally,
Gaddafi was trying to eradicate severely disturbing Rebels who are extremely racist :
" Libya has also long been a base for guest workers from all over Africa who were attracted by its booming oil economy to find decent work.

For years they were welcomed by Muammar Gaddafi, but now, many of those same migrants are scrambling to flee Libya’s instability and deadly discrimination
In particular, the lid was lifted on a fervent undercurrent of racism which has resulted in the detention, torture and murder of thousands of black Libyans and sub-Saharan migrants since 2011.

A group of Sudanese immigrants close to the eastern border with Egypt told us that following the 2011 February revolution, armed Libyans went from door-to-door looking for ‘Africans’.

“We were chased everywhere we went,” said J.Kawasili who originally comes from Somalia. “They said we supported Gaddafi and killed rebels and assaulted women.”
Racism and revolution: the plight of black Africans in Libya

Gaddafi was up against radical terrorists and bigots, so he laid siege to their cities. He was trying to remove a cancerous tumor from his country. That tumor has now turned Libya into a total disaster and nightmare. Libya used to enjoy luxuries that we don't even have in America!

Gaddafi was no Angel, but every Saint is also a sinner.

Painting him as a hero is an even worse parody than painting him as a global Boogeyman.

At some point, @PopeADope , you're going to realise that the truth is universally grey, and both black and white opinions are at best shorthand indicators of reality, and at worse horrendously naieve.

I'm open to that possibility.

I just never knew of a military Dictator that offered so much free stuff to his people (Before those rebels became such a threat).

How can you not stand in awe of how much he was providing for his people?

Every leader of every nation is a mix of good and Evil.
Sometimes good people need to make choices that hurt a lot of people.
The people Gaddafi was fighting were racist and radically fanatical. They ruined his country.
Even Obama (who attacked him and supported rebels) admits this!
Gaddafi offered many gifts to his people that even America does not offer.
Now Libya is a total hell hole and people are fleeing Libya on boats to live in Europe.
Many are drowning and dying in the process.
You do the math!
If the rebels did not ruin the nation with the help of the United States, Libya would be Heaven compared to what it is now.
Sometimes chemotherapy kills just as many good cells and more good cells than bad cells, in order to eradicate cancer cells and save the body.
Figuratively speaking, Gaddafi was trying to rid his country of cancer.
Some innocent people died in the process when he laid Siege to cities occupied by rebels.
The west had no business funding terrorists and launching missiles and airstrikes at Gaddafis forces.

I never realized how Gaddafi had significantly improved the standard of living for the Libyan people under his rule. I always like finding the good in somebody. :)

I'm just wondering why everyone at this forum seems to be turning their head to ignore the fact that America was supporting not just terrorists but racist terrorists.

Gaddafi was just trying to squish some cockroaches and he made some mistakes in the process.

All Saints are sinners!

look at how many services and luxuries Gaddafi provided his people, that even first world countries are not doing.

The terrorists America was helping completely ruined the country and turned it into a hell hole, racist circle jerk, and Bloodbath!

While he was very generous with people, as all dictators he had a wicked bad side. Crossing him was always fatal...

And yes, dethroning him was the stupidest thing America ever did -- that single act literally created ISIS. He was keeping the extremism down with a heavy hand. For whatever your option is of him, for most of his people he was an extremely benevolent dictator. There was simply no reason to get involved...

If I remember correctly USA is the cause that Libya turned into disaster. We had a thread before about this started by @RothschildSaxeCoburgGotha with a very good video

What he did for his people was fantastic. When I saw this video I was surprised and quite upset that USA destroyed this, only because He said no to the banks

If you look at Libya today, it's pretty much still a mess since the war. Tripoli agreed to a ceasefire only recently.

I'm just wondering why everyone at this forum seems to be turning their head to ignore the fact that America was supporting not just terrorists but racist terrorists.

I've spent an unhealthy amount of time studying military history, terrorism and politics. I'm not sure you'll find me commonly defending US foreign policy.
That has nothing to do with what sort of person Gaddafi was. The two are mutually exclusive.

Gaddafi was just trying to squish some cockroaches and he made some mistakes in the process.

Oh? What's your opinion of Annick Cojean's book on his history with women whilst ruling?

All Saints are sinners!

I'll leave definitions of sin for the religious.

look at how many services and luxuries Gaddafi provided his people, that even first world countries are not doing.

So...wait...he owned the country and kindly shared some of the wealth? You do realise that was not his personal wealth, but the countries that he was 'sharing', right?

The terrorists America was helping completely ruined the country and turned it into a hell hole, racist circle jerk, and Bloodbath!

American foreign policy has too often fallen in with the theory that 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. It has often proven problematic to fight wars by proxy.

God has His own purposes for all leaders He puts in place (whether Clinton Bush Obama Trump )
but Sainthood? that requires saving faith in Christ

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
I think what Mindmaster means is that when he was alive ISIS was smaller compared to when he died.
Or maybe he's just crazy.
I'll let you decide on that one.
Or just mindlessly parroting tribal right ideologically driven falsehoods. If he were making such a claim abbout Saddam Hussein, at least it would be a half truth, but Gaddafi? A complete nonsense. Blaming the creation of ISIS on the toppling of Gaddafi is, I don't know, like blaming the rise of Hitler on the toppling of Mussolini.

Here we go with free stuff. Someone was paying for all that sruff. Maybe the ones who became rebels. Could it happen in the U.S.?
