But our resting on the Sabbath, does have everything to do with "the day The Seventh Day Sabbath OF THE LORD GOD" ... "IF JESUS GAVE THEM (us) REST and it, therefore, for the People of God remains, to rest the Sabbath Day".
Throughout the Scriptures "GOD, thus ... in time past through the prophets and in these last days BY THE SON ... concerning the Seventh Day, SPAKE" ... "and it was".
Now it only means what and how much God's speaking means for his people whether the Sabbath of his making has anything to do with them.
Ok Look in the book of Hebrews we find in Chapters 3 & 4,
Now if you remember Moses and Israel were wondering in the wilderness for
40 years, even though Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath, Look what God said to them in Chapter 3 Verse 9--"When your father's tempted me, proved me, and saw my works 40 years"
And then in Verse 10--"Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart: and they have not known my ways"
Even though Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath for 40 years, they still didn't know God's ways.
Verse 11--"So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest"
Even though Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath of rest for 40 years, God sware Israel will not enter his rest.
You should be getting the picture, that there's two Rest's being spoken of.
One rest being the 7th day sabbath rest.
And the other being God's Rest.
That even though Israel was keeping the
7th day sabbath rest for 40 years, they still wasn't entering God's Rest.
For God sware in his wrath that Israel will not enter his Rest. Hebrews 3:11.
Alot of people believe to rest is to keep the 7th day sabbath rest.
But this is not entering God's Rest, Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath rest for 40 years, But they were not entering God's Rest.
As God sware in his wrath that Israel will not enter his Rest. So just because Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath rest for 40 years, they still were not entering God's Rest.
Just because people maybe keeping the
7th day sabbath, does not constitute that they are entering God's Rest, As you haved found out. That Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath for 40 years, but still was not entering God's Rest. For God sware in his wrath Israel would not enter his Rest.
Notice in Chapter 4:4-5
Verse 4--"for he spake in a certain place on the 7th Day on this wise, and God did rest the seventh day from all his works"
Verse 5--"and in this place again if they shall enter into my rest"
Do you get the picture here, Just because people rest on the 7th day as God did rest from all his works on the 7th day, Then God said in Verse 5, if they shall enter into my Rest. Just because people rest on the 7th day, does not mean they are entering God's Rest.
People are entering the day of rest and that's all their doing is keeping a day to rest on, But they are not entering God's Rest.
Verse 6--"seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief"
It was first preached to Israel, but Israel did not enter God's Rest, because of their unbelief, but yet Israel was keeping the
7th day sabbath, But Israel was not entering God's Rest,
Therefore just because people keep the 7th day sabbath does not mean they are entering God's Rest. As God sware in his wrath that Israel will not enter his Rest.
But yet Israel was keeping the 7th day sabbath for 40 years, but Israel was not entering God's Rest.
Chapter 4:8--"For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not Afterward have spoken of another day"
Jesus never spoke of another day or signified of keeping the 7th day sabbath.
Why is that, because after Jesus death and Resurrection, We now rest in Christ Jesus. That's Why Jesus never spoke of another day, because we now rest in Christ Jesus and not on or in any day of the week, no more. That's Why.
We Rest in Christ Jesus and not in or on any day of the week no more.
If you think like Israel did, by keeping the 7th day sabbath, all your doing is entering the 7th day sabbath of rest, But your still not entering God's Rest.Until you come to Jesus and rest in him.
If your resting in a day and people are resting in God, Who do you suppose will get the better of a blessing, Those who put their belief in a day to rest or those who put their belief in God to rest ?
As the book of Hebrews Chapters 3,4, Points out.
You rest in a day and I will rest in Christ Jesus.
