I'm saying that different cultures have different standards for platonic affection. The Middle East is certainly not accepting of homosexuality (except for parts of Israel). It's just an etiquette thing for male friends to hold hands together and such. Holding hands is not sexual. Neither is putting your head on someone's chest.Saint Frankenstien, what makes you think that middle eastern men showing physical affection for each other are not homosexual? Some cultures offer a fair degree of acceptance of homosexuality.
Hard to tell. He sure did an enjoy a good rub down with oil, but was John's love requited in the same way? Lord only knows. Was Jesus ever tempted by lust?
Why aren't men derided for using prostitution services while women are in the bible? There was an entire story devoted to a woman having to act like a hooker to get what the men were supposed to be doing for her in the first place.Sin is simply a distortion of the natural and or divine order. Sexual desire is a part of the natural order (even human beings without concupiscence would experience it) but not beyond its natural ordering which is in marriage and procreation.
Then why is celibacy honored (usually, though, in the same breath as demeaning virgins for not getting laid)? The desire to get married and experience sexual intimacy is a good and natural thing.
How so? He wasn't punching Nazis. He was assaulting people who weren't doing anything. If He were a mature adult, why not protest verbally? Why not complain to the Romans? Sure, they didn't run the Temple (overtly), but with proper persuasion, they could be convinced to step into it.Jesus' anger at the moneychangers in the temple was proper.
Dishonoring parentsThe Bible says that He was tempted in all ways just as we are yet still did not sin.
Pretending your messiah is the lounge chair makes less sense.People in Jesus' time ate reclining on their sides, not sitting on tables. So the text makes perfect sense.
I assume Judas is kissing Jesus? Why is a kiss with a male, such an intimate thing, the red flag signal for the Romans? Both basic decency and common sense would tell you that this icon isn't a depiction of homosexuality.
If Jesus were gay, would you have the cajones to tell Jesus he's being offensive to you?Skwim's reading is nothing but a hamfisted attempt to be offensive, nothing more.
I thought sex was a divine mandate. If Jesus had had sexual relations with anyone, the ransom would have become void.
And Jesus successfully never used magic to poof up food ever ag ... wait ...For an example: When Satan said to Jesus "turn the stone into bread", in that he was hungered it is a temptation. However his response to the temptation was "it is written" and then followed what was written.
And besides, I thought man shouldn't live on bread alone?Yes, each of us have areas that we can resist. Out of curiosity... did Buddha say he had the capacity to turn rocks into bread?
I think it's considered that Jesus is forgiving the woman, but I take it as "she wouldn't be a whore if you didn't sleep with her" kind of message. He's blaming the men for hypocrisy. She was the town bicycle and everyone in that mob must've had a ride. Then there is John 8:8-9 "He who is without sin cast the first stone." Jesus did not cast a stone.
And Jesus never altered the rules of nature to benefit himself ever ag ... wait.Yes, Jesus was tempted in every way just as we are. More so even, because the devil offered Him everything under the sun.
If Jesus were blatantly having sex in the bible, you people would claim it's a metaphor about Jesus and the church, like you do with Solomon's porn poem.Everything strikes you people who think in the flesh as sexual.
Bearing in mind that the gospel of John was written about 70 years after the traditional date for the crucifixion, another possibility is that they tell you more about the author of John than about an historical Jesus.23One of his disciples—the one whom Jesus loved—was reclining next to him;
John 19:26
26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.”
John 21:7
7The follower Jesus loved very much said to Peter, “That man is the Lord!” When Peter heard him say it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked). Then he jumped into the water.
John 21:20
20 Peter turned and saw the follower Jesus loved very much walking behind them. (This was the follower who had leaned against Jesus at the supper and said, “Lord, who is it that will hand you over?”).
Why would Jesus even think of worshiping Satan?"And Jesus never altered the rules of nature to benefit himself ever ag ... wait.
And Jesus never said he'd basically rule the worl ... wait ..."
He never worshipped Satan and He did go to the cross for your benefit, certainly not for His own.
Do you have any commentary concerning the OP?"And Jesus never altered the rules of nature to benefit himself ever ag ... wait.
And Jesus never said he'd basically rule the worl ... wait ..."
He never worshipped Satan and He did go to the cross for your benefit, certainly not for His own.
I'd forgotten about all the foot rubs and stuff, it didn't ever really clock as anything but cone to think about it, guys don't typically give each other foot rubs and such but it's our culture.Hard to tell. He sure did an enjoy a good rub down with oil, but was John's love requited in the same way? Lord only knows.
I know it says Jesus loved John, but let's be real: promises were made by two men holding each others' balls, which might explain why Jesus frowns on making promises, LOL.
It is a fair point which I addressed with @blü 2 though if we were to assume that's their culture, that could make for some tempting scenarios cause Jesus would be putting himself out there.I wouldn't be quick to think that John putting his head on Jesus' chest is homoerotic since that's a different time and culture. In other cultures, it was more acceptable for males to show more physical affection for each other without being homoerotic. That's still true to an extent in the Middle East. Our culture is much more uppity and restrictive about those things (which I hate).
But the naked guy is interesting and I'd like to hear an explanation for that. He's never spoken of.
I am starting to wonder about this "one love" thing Jesus had with one of his male disciples.Lastly, are there verses in the New Testement from Roman's to Revelation that also support this scriptural support of the LBGTQ community?
Why would Jesus even think of worshiping Satan?
His dad created everything so his dad created Satan.
If Jesus wanted all the kingdoms of the world, he just had to ask his dad. He wouldn't bother to truck with some underling his dad had created. It was part of his being tempted by Satan in the wilderness. Satan offered Him all the kingdoms of the world if He would fall down and worship him. Not that He even considered doing so.
The Basics; Why Arab Men Hold HandsWell, I'll consider this. Meantime, I looked up the greek for "loved very much" and the greek is "agapuose poly" not "agape". I think holding hands is normally indicating dating when done by adults. Sort of a possesive gesture. I have never lived in the Middle East, however, I do think some behaviors cross cultural barriers. Men holding hands is the same as a man and woman holding hands--I'm going to assume it's a very special friendship.

Lust would be a very strong sexual desire, lest we forget.BTW, one problem that I had with the OP is that I can't remember what "lust" is?
I would not doubt if 2000 years ago was even more open, which would explain a lot more about why Paul seemed to struggle with homophobia.
Op-Classic, 1992: Homophobia and the BibleBut St. Paul was concerned with homosexuality only because in Greco-Roman culture it represented a secular sensuality that was contrary to his Jewish-Christian spiritual idealism.

CORRECT ! In Greek today, and in the Greek of the NT their are different words for different types of love that in English we call all love. Agape is brotherly love, their is a Greek word for familial love, there is a Greek word for romantic or sexual love, and others. Those ignorant of the original Greek of the Bible make posts of this uninformed and inaccurate natureOnly for that to work you have to ignore that the love being described is agape.
So his dad didn't create Satan, you say?Best stick to your Darwinism.
I don't think that was the narrative. If Jesus wanted all the kingdoms of the world, he just had to ask his dad. He wouldn't bother to truck with some underling his dad had created.
But it could only be in Satan's hand because Yahweh wanted it that way. He's omniscient, so he created Satan with full knowledge of the consequences, after all.Because Jesus came for the world which was in Satan's hand which was Satan's bait if Jesus would worship him.
