Imperfectly understand truth seeing in a mirror darkly. And imperfectly obeying
OK. I agree with that.

What I think they have done and are doing is change Jesus command at Matthew 28:19 where it is written, "disciple the nations". The word disciple is a verb. You can look it up in Strong's Concordance.
They traded the verb for a noun. When you trade something, do you "keep" (τηρήσετε) it?

Strong's Greek: 5083. τηρέω (téreó) -- to watch over, to guard

If Jesus said something and what he said was changed and you believe in the changed version, can it still be said of you that you are "keeping" what Jesus says?

Do some people say, "God protects God's words from change"?

If that is really so, why does Jesus say, "guard them"?

If God guards them, why is it written that we should guard them?

What does Χριστός mean?

Many people will say that it means Jesus Christ. So, Matthew 24:5 would mean that many come saying that they are Jesus Christ.

But, it means anointed one. Jesus is God's anointed one which means he is sanctioned by God to trust in.

But we all know that many people have come saying that we should trust in them.

So, Matthew 24:5 is fulfilled in that many have come saying that they are chosen by God to lead you.

Are you being led by anyone like that?

It is written that Jesus said if you obey what he commands it means that you love him.
Can a person respond to his grace and NOT love him?
I do not think so.
If someone were to change what Jesus commanded to their own opinion, is that keeping his commands?
This sounds somewhat like a lawyers question.

Could you rephrase?

I think that to respond to Jesus means to love him. To love him means to listen, learn and go his way.

If what he said was changed and you listen to the changed words, can it be true that you love him?

:) Go it!

I think you mean, "got it". Am I right?
:) sounds logical to me.

However, there is that which is done in innocence and honesty (trying to do what is right) but be honestly wrong. Certainly I love my wife of 43 years but I'm sure I may have twisted what she said (sometimes.. a few times? quite a few times?) LOL - well -- we do love each other

I agree with you (and we have the same trouble at my house of misunderstanding each other).

To think and to teach and lead are not the same. To be thinking that Jesus says someone is to be making disciples and to teach that he commanded the making of disciples are worlds apart.

To be saying that I know Jesus and then to teach something in his name that he never intended is
wrong and I call that not loving him.

Isn't it why this one is true? James 3:1

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

I think that there is a greater judgment because of the influence and the capacity to lead someone in the wrong direction.
