Milo Yiannopoulos Destroyed by Conservatives

It looks like even the right wing is finally turning on Milo Yiannopoulos: Republicans released a video that led to his book's canceling, his invitation to speak at a conservative conference was revoked, and he's now facing the possibility of being fired from Breitbart:

From the article said:
Milo Yiannopoulos' book Dangerous was canceled abruptly Monday after Republican conservatives released clips of videos-with-audio in which he seemed to condone sex between men and boys.

In a terse statement released Monday afternoon, the right-wing provocateur's publisher said: "After careful consideration, Simon & Schuster and its Threshold Editions imprint have canceled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos."

Minutes later, Yiannopoulos posted this on Facebook: "They canceled my book."

From the article said:
Yiannopoulos tried on Facebook to defend himself but it didn't matter. He was abruptly dis-invited from speaking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference starting this week in Washington, according to a tweet from the American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp.

From the article said:
Meanwhile, Yiannopoulos' employer, Breitbart News, was reported by Fox Business Network and Washingtonian magazine to be considering whether to fire him from his writer/editor job where he has gained fame and infamy in equal measure while gleefully aiming vitriol at liberals, gays, Jews, foreigners, Democrats, plus many others.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Hopefully more toxic rabble-rousers and bigots who unjustifiably demonize certain groups and promote hatred in a similarly venomous manner will face similar condemnation.

And before anyone argues that what is happening to him is a violation of freedom of speech: he's still free to espouse his views, but he's not entitled to do so at a specific conference that doesn't want him, in a book that a company doesn't want to publish (which is its prerogative), or on a private website that doesn't want him to do so. Private institutions and outlets have the right to determine what they want to publish, allow to be spoken, etc., in their private facilities and outlets. He can go peddle his views elsewhere.

Also, regarding his "apology" (I'm putting the word in quotations because I have no idea if it's sincere), even if it's sincere, I think what is happening to him now as a result of that video is warranted by other things he has said anyway, so even if that video doesn't condone pedophilia, he still deserves what is happening right now.

This is some of the best news I've read in a while, and I almost can't believe I'm going to say this, but good job on this one, Breitbart. It was long overdue.

There is a real irony in that the conservatives are making a potentially homophobic accusation against a gay man as a pedophile, possibly at the moment he's admitting possible child abuse with "father micheal" (assuming its a real person/event- probably not ). I'm sure he's going to need therapy after this blows over. God help him, as no-one else will.

Yeah, he's definitely in a pickle. It's almost hard for me to admit that despite being happy his vitriol is finally facing the possibility of coming to a halt, part of me feels bad for him not because he will have a harder time promoting his views but because I don't know how he'll be able to make a living or have a career after this. He's only 32, so it's going to be very hard for him if he's fired from Breitbart and can't find a new job and stable career soon.

I hope he doesn't end up homeless or impoverished; I just hope he finds a healthy career instead of making a living out of propagating hatred and misconceptions.

As long as he doesn't get physically assaulted, the "fall" may be good for him in the long run. although that's only going to be true in retrospect as he's built his life and identity on this and that can do a lot of damage to someone. He might have enough money to burn through and perhaps still have some freinds to see him through. If nothing else, he may realise the fame was an illusion all along. It's sad, but almost predictable.

Agreed. Some of the things he has said make me hope he messes up harder and ends up in jail or in bigger trouble so that he's absolutely removed from the public picture. The fact that he has so many defenders makes me dislike him even more.

I kind of have conflicting feelings about exactly what I hope happens to him, but I agree with you that this difficult situation may be good for him in the future. As long as his vitriol and harm don't affect anyone anymore, I'm not going to complain much. :D

He's got enough money to keep him going already, if he's smart. Investments and whatever.

Milo was 17 when he had sexual relations with the 29 year old priest. Age of consent in Britain is 16. How does this qualify as pedophilia? Pedophilia is defined as a sexual attraction towards prepubescent children age 13 and younger. Taking this into consideration and the fact the Milo was the instigator, not the priest, how does one jump to the nonsensical conclusion the Milo supports pedophila?

Milo Yiannopoulos:

I've been coming across this name quite a bit lately (I know very little about him), but one thing I've noticed is that he seems to get a lot more publicity and public mention from those who hate him more than anything else. He just seems like one of a countless numbers of bloggers out there, so I just can't understand why he's important enough to pay attention to.

He intentionally tries to enrage people; he's a self-admitted provocateur. He's basically a professional troll, so it doesn't seem surprising to me that he has gained as much attention as he has.

Why not?
**** em

Because it wouldn't benefit anyone if he suffered beyond what is needed to keep him from targeting people with hateful rhetoric, and like I said, he's only 32. A lot of things can change later on in a person's life, so his life's being completely ruined so early wouldn't really be a good thing.

Reports of Milo's demise are premature.
With such humor & charisma, he will be the proverbial bad penny.

I think that at the very least, he will probably have a hard time recovering if he gets fired from Breitbart on top of everything else that has happened to him so far. He has taken a hit, that's for sure.
