A supreme court without protestants

"For most of the 19th century, Protestants were trying to turn America into their own heaven on Earth, which included keeping Jews and Catholics from virtually all positions of power. For most of American history, a Supreme Court with no Protestant Christian judges would have been unthinkable. Nearly three-quarters of all justices who've ever served on the nation's high court have been Protestant."

Despite Protestants making up the largest Religious group in America, Supreme court is made up entirely of Catholics and Jews. I just learned that yesterday and thought I'd provide a little fuel for conspiracy theorists who think Catholics and Jews are seeking a one-world Government lol :p

As long as they keep those atheists out, we'll be safe.

For what reason do you think the SC consists disproportionately of Catholics and Jews? Or, for that matter, of those of the Abrahamic persuasion?

My guess is that it is largely coincidence combined with Catholicism and Judaism appealing more to minds that gravitate towards that occupation...I guess

The article says "while Judaism and Catholicism have their own sets of religious laws that date back millennia, many branches of Protestant Christianity do not."

I'll go with that answer as the reason...just because it sounds nice and intelligent lol :)

Catholics and Jews make the best judges :p
When I was very young, growing up in a very Catholic world, my understanding of Protestants was simple.
They were fake Christians. They didn't believe that Jesus is God, so they rebelled against Jesus's Own Church. They ignored Jesus founding His church on Pope Peter I, even though it's right there in the Bible for everybody to see.
Funny how things work out, isn't it?

How Catholic was this world you were living in? USA isn't very Catholic. Where was this world you speak of? I grew up in a sabbath-keeping, Kosher-eating, Messianic (Jews-for-Jesus) household, so I heard the Catholic Church was the whore of babylon and a bunch of un-christian Idolaters.

Being raised with such Anti-Catholic sentiment largely was responsible for my studying Catholic Apologetics and converting to Catholicism.

My brother is now a devout Catholic as well. I guess the lesson learned is that if you want your children to become Catholic, teach them that Catholicism is Idolatrous, Unchristian, the whore of Babylon, and the Religion of the Antichrist! :p

Maybe Catholics and Jews tend to motivate themselves more towards the interests that would make one a judge of law?

Do you believe there should be more diversity on the SC?
Religious? No.
I want competence. I want smart and well educated and well informed people on SCOTUS. I don't care which fictional characters from old books or prophets they believe in.
If any.

Do you believe that there aren't others - Buddhists, Hindus, etc. who are competent enough to be on the SC?
