I wanted to announce it here first, to all my close friends on RF. And the rest of you.

After a couple of years of not really looking, and making half-assed posts for my own amusement, mostly, God has tapped me on the shoulder. Not the Abrahamaic one, since he'd see me as a lost cause my now, no doubt. Nor the Panentheistic one, since I have referred to him as the glitter on an atheist turd a little too often to get much love. Not even the Deist God, since he appears pretty uninterested...ahem...

Nope, I've decided to worship at the altar of ignorance. Or perhaps I should say Ignorance. And I've decided she's a girl, since I feel more comfortable kneeling before a woman. Call it my latent homophobia or something...ahem..

So, why am I worshipping her?

Firstly, and clearly, she is omnipresent. I doubt any would disagree with me on this point. Score one for Ignorance.

Second, whilst I don't see her as omnipotent, it's pretty clear she can handle herself in a smackdown. She sure as heck has Rationality running for cover.

Third, although she is not omnibenevolent, I'm all about equality these days, and she seems as likely to touch a theist as an atheist with the Ignorant Stick. A female as a male. Straight/gay. Heck, even us Aussies are prone to bouts of inane mumblings at her altar.

But I know the path, my friends. For Ignorance is not a vengeful God. She seeks to help us. All we must do is acknowledge her. Embrace her. For it is said that he who denies Ignorance is truly deulded, and a bit of a wanker.

An ignorance a Sunset
Confer upon the Eye—
Of Territory—Color—
Circumference & Decay—

Its Amber Revelation
Exhilirate—Debase—
O mnipotence' inspection
Of Our inferior face—

And when the solemn features
Confirm—in Victory—
We start—as if detected
In Immortality—

You can test your notion.....
ask a rock to become bread.....

If it launches from the ground into your mouth.....

To worship ignorance: sit calmly upon the ground, eat an earthworm and enjoy its protein. Remember no one loves you as much as you'd like. Wallow in self pity, and finally cross your heart for no particular reason and hope to die.

Ewwww. I'll pass. Ultimately all of us hold levels of ignorance. They are hopefully somewhat less than profound.

Admitting this to ourselves would seem a necessary step in attempting to address and somewhat rectify the issue.

I could have made a serious thread doing so, but it seemed more interesting to anthropomorph ignorance into Ignorance. Why should panentheists get all the fun?

Good for you. However do not allow yourself to become evangelical by internalizing your belief to the point where you start worshiping Ignorance's evil daughter: Stupidity.

There are two levels of ignorance....
Those who are not informed.....are ignorant.
Those who choose to ignore....are profoundly ignorant.

Launching your face unto a stone....would be REALLY ignorant!

Meh...ignorant is ignorant.
Once aware, a claim of ignorance is unsupportable.

As an example, I am quite aware of Christian claims about God, but am entirely ignorant about God.

I am aware that rocks to the face generally hurt.

Ha!! Nice post!!!
I try to avoid Stupidity whenever possible, but she occasionally gets me drunk and strikes.

Suffice to say the admitting of Ignorance should be the first step to reducing her hold, rather than building on it.

*tips hat*

Stupidity is always in Ignorance's shadow just waiting to pounce on the unguarded disciple. Would you like to see the numerous bite marks on my butt?

Asimov, huh?

I'll trade you one.

Upon high Olympus, great Zeus
Muttered angrily, "Oh, what the deuce!
It takes spiced ambrosia
To get the nymphs cosier
And Hera supplies grapefruit juice.
Twas Friedrich Schiller's poem. ;)

Let us sing to Mother Hera,
Papa Zeus had best beware-a,
'Cause his wife's a holy terror
And she's good enough for me!
