Texas bikers in deadly shootout at Waco restaurant

What? Me worry?
Standard progressive prescription. Close background check loopholes, ban assault weapons, mandate license/registration, etc etc.

Again I have to ask you if you believe guns that criminals carry are purchase or obtained legally? All the feel-good gun legislation only makes it harder for law abiding citizens to protect their families and their selves.

I'm familiar with the objection. All I can really say is that basically every other Western nation has these common sense laws in place - and lo and behold, their gun violence rates are considerably lower. Mass shootings are largely unheard of. The laws work. Only in America do we retain this stubborn idea that more people having guns means less people will use them.

I have to agree with this.

South Korea and Japan have some of the strictest gun laws and they have very low gun deaths per year per capita. South Korea is actually very interesting as basically all citizens are drafted so all folks are trained with guns. Again, if you look at the statistics it does show a correlation with strong gun laws.

Switzerland & Brazil are exceptions.
The former has many guns & is peaceful.
Brazil is the opposite.

In all fairness I understand your point. However, whether you like it or not, the US is a gun culture society. Those other Western countries never had the access to or the freedom to own firearms like we did in our formative years. We still enjoy that freedom today so of course the down side is that many who shouldn't own firearms do, and this will not change simply through legislation and hope. This is why everyone citizen should have the right to bear arms (as appointed in our Constitution) to protect themselves from "bad guys". I would gladly give up my weapon as long as it is the last one on the pile.

I'd go along if every politician, general, admiral & bureaucrat had Harkonnen heart plugs installed.
(We need a "plan B" for when government goes bad.)

Hi ......... BSM.....
Yep....... the USA is going to be full of guns forever. It's never going to change.
But Americans have got to be crazy if they enjoy that condition, and they must be even more crazy still if they think it's a Freedom!
It;'s a constant 'stress', and and permanent 'enslavement'. :D
Let's go out for a lunch..... OK, but don't forget the guns!
Going shopping?....... be sure top take your gun!
Model boating at the park? You need a gun with you for that!
Daughter: We're just going cycling through the woods. Mum: No you're not!
Trip to the cinema? Take the gun!

One of the things that I have learned on RF over three+ years is that the quality of life in the USA is spoiled somewhat, because of ...... guns!

That is absolute cods...........
UK and Europe had no gun laws when the USA was established. It was not till after the 1st world war that gun laws started to come in
UK was largely unregulated till the mid 50's. As a boy I had both shot guns and a rifle and my father had a .45 revolver.
The USA simply don't want Gun restrictions, they are quite happy to put up with a few hundred deaths a year provided they can keep their guns.

Legally obtained, and then enter the pipeline, statistically speaking. Most gun murders are committed with a weapon that initially entered the market legally. Remove that source and the guns for crooks dry up, somewhat. In the US it's probably too late to ever pull the number of guns down.

It's because those few hundred deaths a year (NB many times as many as ever died from terrorism in the US, and how many new laws has that spawned?) always happen to someone else.. and those who die aren't in a position to argue for gun control.

Why not.. continue to let people own as many guns as they like. But stop selling ammunition.. or sell bullets where one in a hundred or thereabouts, will block the weapon and render it useless.. Or backfire so it blows your hand off.

We had a farm hand in the early 50's who always loaded his own rounds.. You could still get the makings. he said his were better, but I think he was just tight.

I never need a gun when motorboating.
Oh, wait....you meant.....never mind.

Wot?!!
Motorboating?....... down the park?
You dirty old man! :D

Well, you might not need a gun for that.....
.......... but you'd better make sure that your chosen victim hasn't got one!

PS. I'm not allowed to do that.
If I even try to it's 'no pudding for oldbadger'!!

Sounds ideal - people can't complain, then. They can just roll their own & hopefully make 'em think a bit harder about where they put them bullets if they've just spent an hour or two making enough to fill a magazine

I used to load my own...... in the 60's.
I couldn't buy triple-A cartridges, so I had to own-load, if I wanted 'em. .
Sometimes I would cheat and open the crimps on new cartridges, then re-crimp them with AAA !!
