I'm not seeing an option to do that. This is what I have:

It doesn't depress me, but a choice would be nice. And, I would like more conspicuous dividers (darker or colored lines perhaps) between posts and between the posts and our reply box at the bottom. Oh yes, changing the light gray script, such as under each topic heading would go a long way toward readability.
Well the media section, particularly the when some one shares an album, should be turned off.

Yes, I am able to mark it as viewed. It's no big deal either way.

OK, I managed to delete the images. But where is this "alert preference" that you advise I turn off?
My media file's filling up again!
At the.top right you.will see 3 icons a person, a letter, and a lightening bolt. Clicl or hover.over the person. A.new.box will appear. Click on alert preferences. Scroll.down to the media section. Unclick all or some of.the.boxes the.save changes

Question: I don't want to see alert flags for Media. I have unchecked everything in preferences and alert preferences that has anything to do with media. I still get that little red "message waiting" number above Media at the top of the page, which I can't get rid of unless I go to New Media and mark them all as viewed.
What am I missing?

so wait, you turned off all alerts for media and cleared media and clicked marked viewed and you got more media update after?
did you click save change?

Everything under alert preferences for media is unchecked. Everything I could find under preferences that seems to have anything to do with media is unchecked. I still see the little new media alert flag at the top of the screen a couple of times a day.
And yes, I did click save change.

I sincerely hope that is not the case. Because if so, that is extremely annoying.
