Genesis 2

If you cannot fit your scripture to this below as written, then maybe your not supposed to interpret it literally.

This is viewed a truth for most of the educated world, theist included, and contains substantiated facts to back their position.

IAP - IAP Statement on the Teaching of Evolution

We agree that the following evidence-based facts about the origins and evolution of the Earth and of life on this planet have been established by numerous observations and independently derived experimental results from a multitude of scientific disciplines. Even if there are still many open questions about the precise details of evolutionary change, scientific evidence has never contradicted these results:

•In a universe that has evolved towards its present configuration for some 11 to 15 billion years, our Earth formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago.
•Since its formation, the Earth – its geology and its environments – has changed under the effect of numerous physical and chemical forces and continues to do so.
•Life appeared on Earth at least 2.5 billion years ago. The evolution, soon after, of photosynthetic organisms enabled, from at least 2 billion years ago, the slow transformation of the atmosphere to one containing substantial quantities of oxygen. In addition to the release of the oxygen that we breathe, the process of photosynthesis is the ultimate source of fixed energy and food upon which human life on the planet depends.
•Since its first appearance on Earth, life has taken many forms, all of which continue to evolve, in ways which palaeontology and the modern biological and biochemical sciences are describing and independently confirming with increasing precision. Commonalities in the structure of the genetic code of all organisms living today, including humans, clearly indicate their common primordial origin.

If your history book misleads your theology.....burn it.
What do you do when your theology doesn't follow reality? And, how would you recognize it, if it wasn't? And, with all the theological ideas out there, somebody's theology has to be wrong. But, they don't realize it because their theology is creating its own reality and history. Not that it's yours that's wrong. It's those other guys. But isn't there enough religious weirdos out there, following all sorts of strange theological doctrines, to justify somebody just chucking it all and trying to find some historical and scientific answers to what is going on out there in this crazy world and universe around us?

YOU do not get to dictate what evidence is required.

BECAUSE YOU NEVER SUPPLY ANY.

YOU make claims and never back a single one up. FAITH is not evidence.

I believe this world is evidence that it exists.

I believe God is evident to those who know Him.

I believe God is also evident in the Bible from others who knew Him and they report that He claims to have created everything.

I believe there is no evidence for the Big Bang Theory which can't be proven. There is speculation based on a limited view of the universe.

I am sure the scientists pat themselves on the back and congratulate themselves but I believe the truth is they have not proven evolution and will not be able to do so.

Why on earth would I need to do that? I don't need to even have a vaugue interest in cosmology, why would I?

Why would an atheist need to explain something that Theists know nothong about anyway? I'm an atheist my friend, not a cosmologist.

I should ask to see YOUR making of the substance/elements which produced god from nothing. Please, you go first - make a god from nothing in front of me, and then show me that god making matter......

Surely you can meet the standard you are setting for disbelief?

Well that is an easy question to answer. The first life forms emerged after about 700 million years.

Theories explain the facts, they are superior to facts. Again I remind you that I am an atheist not a cosmologist, I don't know how micro-processors work either.

I believe it is just as believeable that the universe has always existed as it is to believe God has always existed but the word of God is that He created everything and that is evidence that everything was created. There is no evidence that everything just magically came into existence and there is not enough evidence to support the Big Bang Theory.

I believethings don't just emerge and there is no evidence that they evolved. What may be apparent is the evidence for the existence of life forms but timing is an iffy thing at best.

I don't believe that. I believe theories are attempts to explain the facts like trying to say the sun revolves around the earth by appearances. Often what appears to be true is not and theories are often misproven when there are better facts.

Yeah...sorting through the mess can be a chore.
Some scripture seems needful for a start....
but once you find a scheme of things, it's not too bad.

It was a great help to drop the recitals, rituals, and congregation.

Actually there is plenty of evidence that he universe is expanding, and we can date it very accurately as we can see the edge of this expansion.

All of which has nothing to do at all with any religious text like Genesis

You could take a class on biology and then you would understand how much is really known. It sounds like you dont have a clue about how much is actually known with factual certainty

Evolution is fact, its never going away.

You can believe anything you want, muffled, but if you don't want to read and understand science, then you should leave science aside since you don't understand them.

And science or evidence-backed scientific theory doesn't say that the sun revolved around the earth, the ignorant Christians from the dark ages and Middle Ages used to believe that nonsense, as well as the nonsense of the earth being flat.

And in genesis 1, there were daylight and mornings for 3 successive days without the sun. This clearly showed the author had no clue that the sun is responsible for daylight.

That has always being Christianity's answer to books they don't like - burn them.

Much of history, arts and literature were lost because of over-zealous Christian priests and monks like burning and destroying history and books.

I thought that was someone else!

Seems there's a purge every now and then.
Like when the church decided which text to keep....burn the rest.

I guess we all like a good fire ...now and then!

Go back to the Biblical/Scriptural source---from which "true theology"(from GOD) exists. See and understand why the discrepancy of one thinking.

And, how would you recognize it, if it wasn't? And, with all the theological ideas out there, somebody's theology has to be wrong. But, they don't realize it because their theology is creating its own reality and history. Not that it's yours that's wrong. It's those other guys.

See above! Mankind was subtly deceived from the "beginning" by outside suggestions/reasonings. Therefore, 2Peter's 1:10, "Make your calling and election sure".
What entity/source is behind today's many "theologically wrong ideas"?? The very same source seen in the "Beginning". The Creator GOD has Not changed nor has HIS admonishing to HIS created Beings.

But isn't there enough religious weirdos out there, following all sorts of strange theological doctrines, to justify somebody just chucking it all and trying to find some historical and scientific answers to what is going on out there in this crazy world and universe around us?

CG D, The problem isn't with the truth of the Holy Bible/GOD, but with people who profess to honor GOD with unbiblical renditions of their own making. Also, with people who had rather ""find some historical and scientific answers"" made/supposed to support conclusions which they can not prove---give the foundational evidence(proven details) to support it.

The craziness is in the people who had rather "do to others"---survival of the fittest. Mankind throughout history has shown the results and continues to follow in the same destructive mode.

Those Scriptures speak of a soon coming end of all evil/wickedness. The prophetic timings "ripe".

There is the promise of a "good fire" in the future. ALL that offends GOD will be included in it.

Yet we see many people doing this daily, you could fall into that category with your beliefs with no evidence.

Its about interpretation, and YOU definitely choose to interpret it your own way, NOT THE WAY the culture who wrote it tells you how to interpret it.

You refuse all allegory and metaphor in favor of a literal interpretation.

And after thousands of years of failure, people are still waiting.

Every person who has made this claim of "coming soon" have all been wrong.

Hi outhouse, there is no failure---2Pet.3:9 has this to say, ""The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.""
Is it you that GOD is waiting upon?? Only GOD will declare the end of time--when that last person who desires to repent and follow HIS Will in true submission.

Outhouse, the evidence is in the Biblical Scriptures as posted and as you reject.
Those who wrote it kept it intact. "That culture" kept an on and off relationship with the Creator GOD as those Prophets indicated. And when the "fullness of time came", the majority of that "culture" Rejected their Promised Messiah---Just as it had been prophesied.

I believe what is written as taught by Jesus Christ to be allegorical(as Jesus gave and indicated such) and literal as well as taught. It is your expressed and false belief to the contrary.

What the rest of the world see's, is the oppo0site.

Is scripture that has been edited and changed at will by many different people, as the cultural needs changed.

BRING EVIDENCE

scripture is not evidence when it contradicts credible science.
