Does the god who supposedly created this world deserve to be worshipped?

The older I get the more world weary I become and so i confront this question. This world is a place of tremendous cruelty, misunderstanding, pain, inequality etc...I could go on and on about how bad a place this world really is. So does god who created this mess and placed us here in this very imperfect world really deserve to be worshiped?

I think yes but only from a panentheist view.

In the context of a God who is separate from creation and demands worship, I think devotees are simply self-serving. Ie/ worship for rewards, not for God.

its only the people who make it a bad place to be

remove the bad people and the world would be a beautiful place to live.

God gave Man dominion.

It is your fellowman that uses it, upon his fellowman.

And why are people 'bad'? God could have refrained from making human nature so aggressive or so ignorant. As we see in nature, some creatures are naturally either more aggressive or gentle. A lot of humans struggle to control their emotions and biological impulses. These things were designed, right? They didn't have to be. I don't agree that we are only to blame for being born in ignorance with a difficult nature to control.

Blaming God or not worshiping Him will not help us. It is all in our mind. However our mind sees the world, so the world is. Meditate to come in contact with the see-er in you. Then you will realize that you are perfect and your circumstances are perfect. Henceforth life would only be a celebration - with or without God.

I thought we were supposed to be made in his image...the crown of creation. Why then are there bad people? Was it an oversight by god? That would mean god is not perfect and that god, like man is a flawed being.

IMO, it depends on your POV:
If you like to be brow beat into fear by a deity on a power trip, like stories that make no logical sense, told what to do, threatened with eternal death, etc, then maybe it does deserve it.
If you're an independent thinker, who doesn't need a sky magican to get through life, then no, the christian god doesn't deserve any worship.

What exactly is worship? And does it equate to love and admiration? I think that is only a more recent connotation. The gods of old were to be feared. They were to be worshiped because the alternative was to to be obliterated off the face of the map, to be doomed to slowly starve because of droughts, or to be sickened because of plagues. These Gods did not need human approval for their actions, nor did they necessarily want their love.

"Worship" then, can be interpreted as "pleasing an angry and powerful being in order to save your own skin". So, if you do believe that God created this beautiful and terrible world-- which, whatever else, is a testament to his power-- and that he has the ability to make things even worse, then yes, it might actually be wise to come to the conclusion that this God deserves to be worshiped, in that older, more practical sense.

God created a world were another living being has to be killed and eaten for other things to survive. God created a world of occurring natural disasters which are necessary for the maintenance of the enviroment.

He created a high functioning creatures who can only their sanity in this terror infested world by deluding themselves.

It's not humankind's fault the world is like this. The responsibility is the creators. The world is flawed because the creator is flawed.

Guess I don't agree with your premise... I don't think this world, while imperfect, is a place of cruelty etc etc..

When I hear people whine about floods, famine, etc. I feel their pain, but just don't agree that things like that "tip the scales" towards the world being a bad place.

I personally see that every fraction of a second on this earth is a profound miracle... I'm on a rock spinning in space/a product of billions of years of evolution... all for me to sit on the internet and eat Doritos while chatting with people all over the world from my living room. Even if I were to die a horrific death in the next second of my life, I've been living in this incredible world for over a BILLION seconds... seems to me a pretty good deal. :)

And do you think the majority of people on this planet live like you?

Do you think the majority of people are sedentary lumps of flesh, sitting on their fat arses munching on Doritos while trolling the internet?
