devil worshipping a sign of mental illness?

Im just curious what would cause someone to have belief in something that could never have a good outcome???

A fictional dark path going nowhere is the way I see it.

I believe someone must have way to much time on their hands and be very misguided to head down a path like this?

To me devil worship is no more a sign of mental illness then believing God became his own son, and then sacrificed himself for humanity's petty problems.

except one "can" have a good outcome by practicing the positive aspects of the scripture.

I think you have to reach far and wide to claim to pull anything positive from a negative

Outhouse to me as a dharmic, LHP has more value as a religious path then Christianity, because it can lead one to liberation, albiet by what can be a very destructive path. Christianity on the other hand very seldom leads one to liberation, maybe a few we call Christian Mystics, because Christianity teaches it's adherents to look at what is illusion as being true.

Well... devil worship in some I've met was a rebelling against Christian parents who were either overbearing or abusive. I had a friend in high school who went that route and when I contacted him later in life he'd actually gone back to Christianity... though a gentler kinder Christianity than his parents practiced. I've also met some former devil worshippers who had good Christian parents... I believe they were overly conscious of their own sins/character flaws and felt they could not change so instead of feeling hypocritical they experimented with the dark side for awhile.

I think mental illness can contribute to false faith in any case... delusions of grandure thinking self as prophet or anti-christ. I've met lots of those in my days of street witnessing in Hollywood in the early 80's. I think back on that now and can say in good conscience that there was mental illness there.

For the longest time I didn't believe in ailments of the brain... until it dawned on me that the brain is an organ in the body. Seems to me that was particularly liberating for me since I'd go for days with super energy and little sleep accomplishing great things and preaching sermons in the sky that impressed many... but I always came down from the hieghts with a mighty crash.

So... no... I don't think devil worship is always a sign of mental illness. Most times I think it's just a choice of a broken self centered heart.

Who is to say that devil worship can't produce a positive outcome? God? He'd be biased, wouldn't He?

Before I answer, what exactly do you think devil worship is/entails?

since I dont buy into the god type myths I surely dont buy into any offshoots by less then desirable charactors who choose to "be different"

oh really

when did hell get introduced in the bible ?????

its either jewish or christian

heres some facts for you

Hell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to Jewish teachings, hell is not entirely physical; rather, it can be compared to a very intense feeling of shame.

The Christian doctrine of hell derives from the teaching of the New Testament, where hell is typically described using the Greek words Tartarus or Hades or the Arabic word Gehenna.

Now I understand hellenistic jewish authors wrote about hell but the christian movement is what made "hell" so popular as stated above.

To claim only jews invented "hell" would be the same as calling the NT, judaism
