Scientific Miracles in Hindu Scriptures..must see!!

Autodidact

Intentionally Blank
Basically, I think we can create a generic post and save a lot of religionists time. Here's my attempt to help you out:

God has given us his word in insert name of your religious text. Number years ago, he gave his wisdom to the scribes of religious text which they could not have known, and which science has proven true. In verse, chapter it is written obscure, vague description of natural phenomenon quoted from religious text. Modern science has demonstrated the perfect truth of this verse, since insert reference to scientific discovery or article that bears vague resemblance to one possible interpretation of your religious text. Thus we see God revealed his wisdom to us in religious text, as now proven by modern science.

All living bodies subsist on food grains, which are produced from rains. Rains are produced by performance of [sacrifice], and [sacrifice] is born of prescribed duties.
-Srimad Bhagavad-Gita 3:14.

Don't get me wrong; I love the Bhagavad-Gita to death. I consider it Spirituality 101. However, this verse goes against what we know about how rain is formed, and it is NOT from fire-sacrifices.

This thread is to document the Hindu sciences and their contributions for education purposes. The Hindu influence on the development of Greek science, Arab and Modern science is very significant and substantial. Even today Hinduism is influencing Science.

Ofcourse, Scriptures such as Vedas are not science books but they are spiritual texts. Mostly composed of spiritual poems and hymns. They do make many allusions to science, but in only passing references. These have been mentioned.

The expansion or I should say the full description of the above verse is present in other scriptures such as Brahmanas, Upanishads, Manu Samhita etc..Upanishads are commentaries and to translate many verses of VEDAS or GITA one should always rely on and check with Upanishads and other highly authenticated scriptures.

I came across this hymn from the Chandoygya Upanishad while watching a documentary on Shankaracharya. The documentary is in Sanskrit with English Subtitles. You must watch it to get the understanding of the above verse.

Rain does get produced from Yajna (which is not just at this earthly level but cosmic level as well). Let me give you the link to the video and let me know what you think. The question was how this body is formed and then from the Chandogya Upanishad Adi Shankaracharya ji answered very well. that answer should also clarify the above verse.

@ 4:30 you should start to see it. The documentary is very enlightening and whole set is there on youtube. Watch it and let me know.

ALSO, similar idea is present In the Manu Samhita III.76 it states that the ghee or clarified butter duly offered into the sacrificial fire ascends to the sun and from that the sun manifests clouds full of rain. From rain results the growth of food and from food humans come into existence from the semen of males fertilising the eggs females.

Friend Riverwolf,

The cause of rain is the yajna. By people performing yajna the clouds produce sufficient rain. The cause of yajna is karma, action. The yajna is produced from the actions of the priest and the patron.

Am sure the word *yagna* or *sacrifice* is clear now.
It simply means karma or action.

Love & rgds

I'll have to watch it more than once to really get it, as that kind of one-to-one substitution writing is very difficult to follow for me. However, it does seem very good. Which part of the Chandogya Upanishad is that from?

I'm afraid I don't really acknowledge the authority of Manu Samhita. Clouds full of rain are the evaporated water itself, and were once water on the earth itself.

It is from PART 5, Chapter IV of Chandogya Upanishad.

The key point in the water cycle is that cloud is made up of water (Clouds full of rain), which gets evaporated from the earth itself. (ascending to the sun).

Manu Samhita or Manu Smriti WAS a very good scripture written but it has been corrupted over the ages. This is due to the verses written for the women and shudras. Thus for these corrupted smritis we can follow this.

yaani asmakam suchritani, tani tavya upasthani, no itranani..(Taittiriya Upanishad, I-II-2)
This means good actions of others should be embraced and imitated and not the rest. Acting upon this precept we can keep up the good and give up the bad. Our welfare lies in carrying on our good conduct, actions, and intentions.
