The most dangerous country is . . .

Mathematician

Reason, and reason again
China is no more dangerous today than Japan was in the '80s. We just fear competition from non-European countries.

Did you know the Chinese word for the United States literally translates to "Beautiful country?" :)

Interesting. I guess it was their massive population. But they may not be such a big deal anymore. Pakistan is crazy. The more I read the scarier it sounds hehe.

I guess it depends on what you mean by scary. I would certainly have some reservations about travelling in some countries and not others, pakistan being one I would feel okay in.

I used to say china... It is still a coiled snake IMHO but perhaps it is pakistan.
China doesn't worry me. Pakistan is worrisome, and so is North Korea, but at the moment, much as I love the Russians, I'd have to say Russia is more dangerous. A vast, unmanageable country with an Orthodox hierarchy flexing its muscles, resurgent nationalism, large Muslim minorities, rampant alcoholism, widespread violence, numerous public health problems, a flourishing international weapons trade, and an economy that could go either way. The potential for disaster is huge.

Of course, now that I've put it that way, the United States is pretty dangerous, too.

I'm sure it's different if you're straight. Being gay, I can count the Muslim countries I'd feel okay in, on the fingers of one hand.

Well, I guess there is always some kind of issue for each person when travelling, but there would be differences, I agree.

However, the fact that I'd feel uncomfortable traveling to those countries doesn't mean those are necessarily the ones that post the greatest threat to world stability, either. :)

Well, the OP didn't stipulate world stability. We could probably break down countries to regions, or even cities as being too dangerous to travel to.

I think America is the most dangerous country. It has nuclear weapons that it might well use. It has been in a state of permanent war for the last 60 odd years, it doesn't hesitate to pick a fight and has minimal respect for human rights as evidenced by Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib.
I think Obama is taking it in the right direction. But it's still dangerous.

You've all missed the obvious answer: France. Bill O'Reilly would not focus so much on this menace if they weren't the most dangerous country on earth.
