Obama is not getting re-elected

Neo-Logic

Reality Checker
The impact of the Obama stimulus plan is expected to be measurable in 3-5 years. Even Obama himself admitted that if this stimulus plan fails, he will not be re-elected for another term. Even in the 3 year mark, the results will be muddied and politicized during the campaigns. Plus, no president got re-elected during a down economy in American history.

And contrary to popular belief, Obama's plan is NOT the same as FDR's plans in the 100 days. Whereas FDR spent most of the monies in directly creating new jobs, only a minimal portion of the Obama stimulus plan is going towards infastructure and building projects and rest are focused more on keynesian economics type funding/spending.

Like all Presidents, OBama will be judged come year 3 and 4... the first two seem to get forgotten when an election looms.

It seems a little too early to tell whether he'll be re-elected or not. I say give him another week or two -- he's only been on the job for a month.

Done here.
Plus, no president got re-elected during a down economy in American history.
James Madison was re-elected during the Depression of 1807.
James Monroe was re-elected during the Panic of 1819.
Franklin Roosevelt was re-elected during the Great Depression.

Of course, none of that has anything to do with Obama's chances for re-election, but the fact that something has never happened before doesn't have much to do with whether it will happen in the future, either -- especially if it's not a fact.

Aside from the fact that the GOP has nothing at all worthy of running against Obama.

Er, one of the most common criticisms made against FDR relates to him not spending enough in his first term, allowing the Great Depression to continue until the late part of his second term when he finally adopted Keynesianism.

Unfortunately, the country's demographics would not tolerate a return of the WPA (I think).

I agree. Though I didn't vote for Obama and I believe strongly in giving him the benefit of the doubt and my prayers are for his success as our nation's leader. I want him very much to succeed and lead us with integrity.

They can always fill a dead monkey full of crap and put lipstick on it.

I don't think that the Republican machine wanted to waste its time and especially its money on the 2008 campaign. For 2012, I expect money, time, and effort by all in an angry, hate-driven, lie-fueled campaign by the Republicans.

:sarcastic Yeah, the republicans are lying, hate-mongering, ******** not worthy of running against the second coming, our dear chosen one, the great lord Obama.

I'm so tired of all their lies, like this one:

We're in the worst economic situation since the great depression

Oh...wait...

ROTFLMAO

And who, pray tell, do YOU think got us to this here "worst economic situation since the great depression"?

The point was that this is NOT the worst economic situation since the Great Depression.

And I don't think GW did it all by himself. Although Obama seems content to blame him and the reps for it because that demonizes them and attempts to hold the door to power open for 2010 and 2012.

There are a number of factors, and I can't hope to explain or know them all. I do know that the economy goes in cycles. Down periods like this tend to happen every 20-30 years. However, bad lending practices helped greatly. People were given loans they couldn't hope to repay, and mortgages as well. People lived beyond their means. I don't pretend to understand the entire situation, but I think that was part of it.

And deregulation is actually NOT the fault of GWB or the republicans. One of his first actions in the U.S. Senate, Obama, was to back democratic opposition to regulations on fannie and freddie.

Obama ignores the situation in the 1980's. In the 80's unemployment was greater, so were inflation, prime rates, and 30 yr mortgage rates. But either Obama is completely ignorant of this, or he chooses to leave it out. Why?

Because we got out of the 80's situation by using tax cuts, not by spending almost a trillion dollars and attempting to permanently increase the size of government. There is no historical evidence of a plan like Barack Obama's spending bill working.

You forgot the 2010 elections where we will put an end to the rubber stamp congress.

You honestly don't know? We weren't in a recession then. We're in a recession now.

Because we got out of the 80's situation by using tax cuts, not by spending almost a trillion dollars and attempting to permanently increase the size of government.

You spend your way out of a recession. That's economics 101. I curious you don't know that.

The bill is probably too little too late, but it's a step in the right direction. As for no historical evidence, that's just false. We spent our way out of the Great Depression, for instance.
