Embarrass humanity with how gullible they are to obvious mythology, throwing out credible education and knowledge using a shovel.
It would be more fuel efficient to have the station orbit Earth.

Actually, the most fuel efficient would be in one of the L-points. I believe one of the NASA missions is aiming for one of those spots.
That has the disadvantage of being much farther from Earth than a near orbit.
A space station would have much ferrying back & forth.'
But I'm just speculate'n here.

It wouldn't surprise me if you're right.
I will ask my sons when I have the chance. They know these things or have contacts to actually ask the right person. (Only problem... I have to remember to ask...)
