I don't know about books on this but a lot of sites where you can get authentic yantras will have detailed information about how to worship and use them. As a side note, I have used them and they absolutely work....still keep a Sri Yantra on my altar :)

In short every God and Goddess has a Murti, Yantra, and Mantra.

The Yantra is a road map to enlightenment. Each line has a meaning. Worship of the Yantra is passed to the student from the teacher.
