First, this not the reason why slavery ended in America. Second, Types of slavery like "penal servitude" persisted in America up well into the 20th century. Third, many if not most slaves in America were generations of Christians while they were slaves.

This describes some of the aspects of slavery in Islam, and does not address the fact that slave trading and slavery was very much a part of Islam throughout its history.

Christianity nor Islam had scripture forbidding slavery. The Baha'i Faith is among the first to unconditional forbid all forms of slavery

Yes, it is true that Islam had not been able to improve on its moral code on slavery, though it was superior to the preexisting Arabian one, and also better than other moral codes on slavery elsewhere for a long period of time, till the secular humanistic philosophies came about. Slavery later on was outlawed and suppressed in islamic nations due to pressure from the UN and western nations like Britain, France in the twentieth century.

    Glad to hear that. :)

Could you give and references for this from the bahai religion which will be in tune with the theme of this thread as well. Thanx in advance.

Did you not claim that there was "universal support for slavery as an institution" in the South?

Did you not also claim that no one could deny the "overwhelming support in the South for slavery and the Rebellion to support slavery"?

How did I misrepresent what you said?

Yes, overwhelming support is not every one. I consider universal needs clarification. There was no significant descent against slavery, because of the economic dependency on slavery by the entire economy, and after the invention of the cotton gin the cotton industry dependent slavery brought prosperity.

to love is to serve. one might not be bound by physical fetters but one is entangled to other in love.

    1 Samuel 18:1
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

this is why it is said i am a slave to allah.

    Isaiah 45:23
23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

    Revelation 3:9
Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
