Why worship god?

IndigoChild5559

Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
I believe at that time in history that is how God was working and that is what He commanded those of the nation of Israel to do as foreshadows which pointed to the ultimate sacrifice, the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.
That's fine, that's your Christian belief. But what I was getting at was this: You were saying that you found ritualistic worship and offerings/sacrifices a real put off, that you found the "love" worship of modern Christianity a much different thing that you could relate to. My point is that the "ritualistic worship and offering/sacrifices" that you consider a put off were exactly what God commanded Israel. How do you square that with your personal feelings about such things?

I thought I did answer that question, but I'll try again. I believe the ritualistic worship and sacrifices as God commanded Israel were His will for the people of Israel at that time. I am not put off by that and my feelings are in agreement with God's will. I would also like to point out that even during the time of the temple and ritualistic worship in Israel, God still always looked at the person's motive, heart, and faith as they offered their sacrifices and worship. So although, I believe the scriptures indicate the outward performance or the requirement by God has been changed and fulfilled in Christ, the faith and heart aspect which God desires of those who worship Him has always been consistent.
