Why doesn't the laws of the US reflect the "Nation of Christians" it claims to be?

Perhaps because of the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution, which begins (emphasis added):

"Congress shall make NO LAW respecting the establishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Simple as that.

Peace, :)
