I wanted to see where people stand on different issues without having to retrieve old topics and go through spamming up an entire section.

Please click on everything you SUPPORT. You can chose more than one option, of course. Remember, we are speaking in LEGAL terms.

EDIT: I do not support much on that list.

Have you ever done the quiz at www.politicalCompass.org ? It is very cool. You might want to have people do that quiz and then post their results back here. Anyway, if you are interested in this sort of thing, you will like the quiz there.

I choose as If I believed we needed the authority of statism.

The questions really moot to me.

Is pornography illegal?

I could not in good conscience vote to support abortion without any caveats. I DO support a woman's right to choose, up to about the six month mark. I would hope that we as a society would do everything possible to make that choice unnecessary, like provide good sex education (instead of that abstinence only bullcrap), ready access to contraceptives, and a financial and social support network for women who want to carry the foetus to term.

For me, it's:

Abortion -- yes, but only in the first trimester.
Gay Marriage -- yes, though civil unions are fine.
Legalizing Marijuana -- yes, and all other drugs.
Legalizing Prostitution -- yes, and all other victimless crimes.
Legalizing Pornography -- yes, with stipulations I won't get into here.
Wall between Religion and State -- yes, the two should be kept separate
Cutting taxes -- yes, a lot. End the income tax and replace it with nothing.
Election reform -- Much need here.
Cutting army size -- We don't need all this military interventionism.

Generally speaking, these are libertarian-inspired cutbacks on government power.

That IS a cool site. No surprise that I wound up being in the same area as Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, and the Dalai Lama on the graph. Go figure. :D

I did the Political compass test (as I do from time to time) and well, no surprises really.

Your political compass

Economic Left/Right: -8.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.28

Puts me to the left of Ghandi and the Dalai Lama

I support abortion, same-sex marriage, legalization of marijuana, minimum wage laws, universal healthcare, legalization of prostitution, that pornagraphy remains legal (as I understand that one to mean, considering that it is - besides the kinds that should be illegal, i.e. child pornagraphy), seperation of church and state, election reform, and affirmative action.

I do support recycling laws, but just not sure how I feel such laws should be implemented, I decided not to pick that option.

As for the Iraq War, I was against the invasion and feel we shouldn't have went there and am unsupportive in that sense, but now that we are there, I feel we need to stay to try to give some order to that country and to help the Iraqi government and people along (I don't support an immediate pull-out or anything like that). So I didn't choose that one, though maybe I could have.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would not support recycling laws? :areyoucra

I take it a step further and say we must also have stricter environmental regulations across the board to make everything we do greener. We just have to. People whine and say doing that will hurt the economy, but they need to wake up and realize there will be no economy or people if we're all dead after we've destoryed the planet!

Plus, it WON'T hurt the economy. The economy works on supply and demand (well, partly) and if there is a demand for green products suppliers will come up with innovative ways to fill that demand. They already have; we just need more. Innovation boosts the economy. It is a market waiting to be tapped!
