What makes sikh a sikh ?

GURSIKH

chardi kla
For me one who follows or tries to follow Sri Guru Granth Sahib as his/her Guru/Guide is Sikh .

Fateh .

Breathe

Hostis humani generis
In my opinion...

Loving God and hoping to join with Him.
Following the Gurū Granth Sāhib to the best of one's ability.
Doing good for goodness sake, without hoping for a reward.
Avoiding evils and superstition, while maintaining an open mind.

This, I think, makes a Sikh. :)
