In fact, Israel is probably under no legal obligation to vaccinate Israeli citizens, either, which the NYT also omitted, possibly by neferious intent or malicious oversight if we are deliberately looking for villains.I noticed the jab there (pun unintended) about the contrast between Israel and the PA. As usual, the NYT sneaking in their agenda without properly discussing the issue. Israel is under no legal obligation to vaccinate the Palestinians or assist with any of their medical needs, per the Oslo Accords. - BBC Admits Claim That Israel Is Responsible for Vaccinating Palestinians Is Wrong, Healthcare in the State of Palestine - Wikipedia, The COVID vaccine blood libel against Israel
Actually, the would probably be great for their next "bombshell headline": Israel sees only moral obligation to vaccinate its citizens and not Palestinians"........In fact, Israel is probably under no legal obligation to vaccinate Israeli citizens, either, which the NYT also omitted, possibly by neferious intent or malicious oversight if we are deliberately looking for villains.
I mean, that's probably also factually true, if we reduce our perception of "Israel" to the conservative elements of its society and its dominant governing ideologies and parties.Actually, the would probably be great for their next "bombshell headline": Israel sees only moral obligation to vaccinate its citizens and not Palestinians"........
The Palestinians are dependent on Israeli border control to let through any goods and services from outside, are they not?According to the Oslo Accords the Palestinians are responsible for their healthcare systems. The Palestinians agree to this. The Israelis agree to this. The Palestinians are responsible for any Covid 19 vaccinations within Areas A and B.
Yes Israel controls external borders of Palestine, but that is irrelevant to this issue. Israel has imposed no restrictions on Palestinians ability to procure vaccine. Indeed Israel has provided vaccine to the Palestinians for free. In addition Palestinian oligarchs have redirected vaccine away from those most needing it to the politically connected. The Palestinians are dependent on Israeli border control to let through any goods and services from outside, are they not?
It's not exactly irrelevant. The Palestinian territories don't have any sort of domestic vaccine production, so they are reliant on imports that pass through Israeli border controls, so Israel effectively exerts control over the vaccination of the Palestinian Arab population regardless of the policy goals of the Palestinian authority.Yes Israel controls external borders of Palestine, but that is irrelevant to this issue. Palestinian COVID-19 vaccine rollout under fire over doses for VIPs
Since Israel has not restricted any Palestinian importation of Covid vaccine it is certainly quite irrelevant. You also totally overlooked, as mentioned into article I cited, that Israel has been providing the Palestinians with vaccine. It has committed to providing 100,000 doses to the Palestinians already. It's not exactly irrelevant. Meanwhile, Israeli businesses continue to rely on exploited immigrant labor from the Territories, so one could argue that it is actually in the interest of Israelis that as many Palestinians as possible get vaccinated. Not that this is likely going to change Likud's decisionmaking process, of course.
So you admit that the Palestinians aren't part of Israel?Israel has vaccinated 30% of its population and 80% of its population who are over 60 years old.
That makes no sense. Israelis are Palestinians. Some are Arab Palestinians, some are Samaritan Palestinians, some are Druze Palestinians and some are Jewish Palestinians. Palestine is a region. The State of Israel is part of the region. As is portions of the region claimed by some Arabs. Areas which are currently under the sovereignty of the State of Israel until final negotiations. So you admit that the Palestinians aren't part of Israel?
