UUs protesting in Arizona

It was a problem for Unitarian-Universalists when Arizona passed repressive anti-immigrant laws a few months after the UUA had booked Phoenix as the site of our 2012 General Assembly. GA 2010 debated whether the GA should be moved or withdrawn, but it was decided to make it a "justice GA" where UUs would make our opposition to repression known.

This past weekend, about 2,000 came to hold a vigil against the detention of people in a "tent city" by the local sheriff. News can be read here:

Thousands wage peaceful protest at Tent City : uuworld.org : General Assembly

and a video of the candlelight vigil is here:

Thanks Applewuud. The story was picked up by Associated Press too! We got a log of coverage. :)

It was an amazing experience, deeply spiritual and prophetic.

Hope you are well! (Are you ever on facebook?)

I have to agree, it was an incredible experience and I feel very fortunate to have been able to take part in the protest - and the Justice GA.
