Then there is the falsehood being spread by certain religious groups that American Indians are descendants from ancient lost tribes of Israel. Rough estimates have people in the western hemisphere some 40,000 years ago, but more modern radiocarbon tests have more or less tell us the earliest arrivals were around 30,000 years ago when ice free corridors opened up from what is now northeastern Russia, across Beringia and southwards into warmer lands. Although there were no Israelites at that time, thats not to say tribes of people didnt inhabit that area. Tribes of people who were no doubt primitive animists somewhat like the those migrating into the Americas.
Humans just following the food supply and looking for a warmer clime in which to live.
Perhaps such fanciful concepts were conceived in an attempt to connect American Indians with someone elses religion or else a part of the conversion process missionaries applied to convince us that our ancient beliefs were/are false.
And it continues today.
No, Indians are not descendant of lost Israeli tribes, nor was there a Native American Nativity or Indian Jesus. No beaded buckskin clad, winged angels or, Native American Ten Commandments that existed in Pre-Columbian America.
Sadly enough there are some American Indians that have accepted these falsehoods as being true because they were forced to convert, or else ignorant of their own history and ancient spirituality.
