United States of Pornography

Actually, watching porn does make certain individuals more apt to rape.
Though we can quickly conclude it is not the porn per se, but the porn is a powerful trigger to which underlining problems exist.
I would like to see research articles on this because most certainly answers point the other way

back your statement is what it means

I find it to be false as well
Let me see if I understand your objection. I'll start with explaining my statement.

First, my comment was only interested in whether or not a person who is already a rapist is more apt to rape if he just watched porn. (I will grant you this explanation is more finely tuned than my previous statement, so let me know if your objections still apply).

I will give you a chance to respond, by chance there was some confusion about my initial statement.

I pledge allegiance,
To the flag,
Of the United States of Pornography.
And to the repression,
From which it stems,
One nation,
Underwhelmed,
Obsessional,
With internet,
And hangups,
For all.

Wait if the person is already a rapist, they would rape whether or not they watched porn, football, or Survivor. That's why they are labeled a rapist.

This would be correct.
So then, the next question is, can someone who has urges to rape someone, be pushed over the edge to do it, if watching a bunch of porn, especially porn that makes light of raping?
Just a question...

I think it's fun to substite the word "pornography" in the OP with the word "kittens". The OP makes just as much sense either way. It works with other words too. Like "toothpaste". We brush our teeth in the USA, women are raped in the USA, toothpaste causes women to be raped. It's like a really sad game.

Careful, the anti-porn mind is just tilted enough to take such stuff seriously and come out against toothpaste.

200 Million Americans are involved in porn. Do you mean watch porn or are associated with porn. Because 200 million is 66%, and there is a large number of Americans that are children and elderly. I'm not really into granny porn, but I seriously doubt that may grannies are.

Porn does not cause rape. There are just as many reports that claim porn provide a healthy release (no pun intended).

I can't even offer a rebuttal to half of this stuff. Its all over the place.

This rant is beyond insane.

According to the APA, no.

Okay, then perhaps you could present some scientific data linking pornography with rape?

I do not have any data on that and I am not making that claim. However,

OMG people enjoying themselves!!!! oh heaven stop them !! OH oH OH Oh oH oH oH

watching pornography leads to the corruption of mind, forcing one to think lustful and sinful thoughts.

If you witness a murder, are you likely to be traumatised by it?

If you are constantly bombarded by images of food, are you likely to become hungry?

As the visuals become embedded deeper within the mind they spread to the heart and begin creating emotions, cravings toward that activity. Activities which are not permitted.

For some of us, there is no such thing as "sinful" & there is nothing wrong with "lustful".
If you could show a strong causative relationship between watching porn & committing assaults, then you might have an argument.
Otherwise, it all seems to be about prudery. That's fine for you, but not something to impose upon us reprobates.

You do realize that your opinions regarding "sin" are irrelevant to those who don't share your religious beliefs, right? Lust and sexuality are healthy, natural and beautiful.

This is like saying playing violent video games will cause people to be more violent.
Fundies hate when people who are labeled "sinful" and "lustful" don't actually end up performing those acts they speak of.

I am not imposing anything on anyone. The One Above does the imposition.

Sexuality is healthy. Lust is destructive and corruptive. Tell me, does one commit adultery without first lusting?

Sexuality is different to violence. One is a natural instinctive drive that should be properly channelled, while the other is a product of a malevolent character trait.
