Never had goats myself.
Though when I lived in West Virginia I knew many a household that kept at least two goats because the claim is that the mere presence of goats deters copperheads.


They are also good for keeping lawns well trimmed

I can honestly say that I have not seen evidence of this claim...

Though I suppose that those who I know who own goats may not have figured out the right number of goats for their yard.
I reckon the math is a mess.
Especially given all the goat droppings that help the grass grow...

It worked for us, the lawn was exclusively for the goats so no fear if sunbathing in goat dropping. I will also say they were excellent at chewing my best seaters
