"The USA In Bible Prophecy"

So I was reading about this new book called The USA in Bible Prophecy. Has anyone else heard of this or similar theories?

From the publisher's site:
Did Christ know of this North American Continent? ... Sure he did. Did He know this great nation would be Christian from its beginning? ... Of course he did. Is it possible that this nation, the greatest Christian super power of all time, known to Jesus Christ, was never mentioned, indicated, or foretold in the Bible?
and...
This book clearly shows that America (Zion) is the land set aside by God Almighty to be the place of regathered Israel. Sermons and documents by the Founding Fathers testify to their belief that they were the Israel people of the latter days, and that the Old Testament prophecies were being fulfilled in their undertakings. It would be wise for us who are living in these last days to take a closer look at the past generations of our great nation to relearn what they knew about America's critical role in Bible prophecy.

For those of you who believe in the Bible, does this sound accurate?

No.

It is an example of the worst possible interpretation of Scripture. In fact, it is hard to call this an "interpretation."

Weren't the Founding Fathers mostly Deist? I think I remember reading that somewhere.

Yes.

This means that when an idiot reads their writings, they think that the "founders" were modern evangelical Christians.

Pathetic.

From the great wiki:

Deism in America

Thomas Jefferson, Edgehill Portrait of 1805 by Gilbert Stuart. National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC.

In America, Enlightenment philosphy (which itself was heavily inspired by Deist ideals) played a major role in creating the principle of separation of Church and State, expressed in the religious freedom clauses of the First Amendment of the Constitution. Founding Fathers who were especially noted for being influenced by such philosphy include Cornelius Harnett, Gouverneur Morris, Hugh Williamson, James Wilson[26] and James Madison.[27] While all of these men were members of traditional Christian denominations (Hugh Williamson was a Presbyterian and the rest were Episcopalians) their political speaches show distinct deistic influence. Other notable Founding Fathers may have been more directly Deist. These include Ethan Allen[28], and Thomas Paine (who published The Age of Reason, a treatise that helped to popularize deism throughout America and Europe). Elihu Palmer (1764-1806) wrote the "Bible" of American deism in this Principles of Nature (1823), and attempted to organize deism by forming the "Deistical Society of New York."
Currently (as of 2007) there is an ongoing controversy in the United States as to whether or not America is a "Christian nation". This has spawned a subsidiary controversy over whether or not the Founding Fathers were Christians or Deists or something in between.[29]

Particularly heated is the debate over the beliefs of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington, for all of whom the evidence is mixed.[30] [31]

Maybe we should coin a new term: Extrapretation

Interpretation : Extrapretaion :: Interpolation : Extrapolation

Sounds more like they have made a belief box and are attempting to cram the Bible into it.

I just checked - google has no hits for extrapretation, so if you ever see it used again, just remember, you heard it here first :)
