If you're filling the glass, it's half full. If you're emptying the glass, it's half empty. It also contains x ml of liquid, and it might just by shiny and beautiful, making it a worthy subject to draw.

Imho, The glass is...

Half full, because a happy life is simpler than we make it.

Contains X ml of liquid, because that's what a glass does.

Shiny and Beautiful, because life is when it's lived well.

Functioning as intended, because of the answers above.

In need of filling, because more people should want to live life that way.

Well? Which is it? This is one of the great questions of life, you know!

Bonus Question (a la @Sunstone): what philosophical positions might each of the answers represent?

1. Half empty

A balanced mind "I'm happy with what I know and at peace with what I dont"

2. Half full

Im unsatisfied with what ibdont know and tolerate what i do

3. an illusion or a lie

I dont trust myself but for others to define me; they dont know

4. Contains X mL of liquid

Trying to find the missing ingredient to life

5. Shiny and beautiful

Distracted by the light (good or bad)

6. Functioning as intended

Indifferent

7. In need of filling

Depending on faith and hope

Hopefully functioning. If not we have a problem.

Also it’s always full... of air and/or liquid.

Good answer, that is my answer also when asked this question. I say it is full and overflowing, all the way into space. The glass will always be full of air in most cases.

It's both half-full and half-empty.
It always has been. But approaching it as half-full makes for a more joyous life. Half empty folks are energy suckers.

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
Doesn't it depend on the timeline? At one time, it may have been full, soon it will be empty. Only in the moment the questions is asked does it have half of it's liquid left.

If there was a category for "morbid OCD over the details of a single moment in the long life of a glass and its liquid," I'd a voted that way.

I actually voted x mL. . . But technically the unit of measurement is relative too!

The glass broke.

What now?

You have a broken glass.

Is it that easy to reach for another one?

Not if you don't have another glass.

So what now?

I'm available for children's parties.
