The Doctrine of Original Sin

Looks as thought it's not possible to keep a thread on point. What's this thread about again? Oh yes, original sin. The doctrine is:

a) Not binding on anyone other than Roman Catholics and certain of their Protestant descendants;
b) Not obvious given biblical data;
c) Not necessary, even to support the New Testament's affirmation of our need and God's provision of a saviour;
d) Connected with myriad abuses and mischief, particularly involving a system according to which one can/should/must buy off/appease the wrath of God on our "original sin" through the acquired righteousness of others (saints)
