The consequences of engaging Iran?

While I find the protests promising, my understanding is that the parallels between Mahmoud Amadineajad and his rival are awkwardly frequent.

Looking at the "debate between Amadineajad and Mousavi (Khameneh) it was very difficult to not consider I was watching something highly scripted. Each candidate delivered extreme body blows to his rival and yet neither so much as raised an eyebrow. Mousavi actually sounded somewhat bored or perhaps distracted because he was trying to remember his exact lines.

In all honesty, I don't think the Obama administration has the slightest idea what they are up against especially given Obama's "Cairo" speech.
