TBS Comedy Show Is “Misleading Viewers” About the Bible

So says the evangelical Christian group One Million Moms (Twitter count: only 3,655), which is furious that a TV show satirizing God is… satirizing God.

MIRACLE WORKERS TV SHOW.png

The comedy Miracle Workers treats Heaven as a corporate workplace where God (Steve Buscemi) has lost the desire to work (and gained a desire to destroy His own creations) while an angel (Daniel Radcliffe) has to pick up the slack. Hey, it’s a TV series. You like it or you don’t.

The Moms, still furious over a sexualized Kit Kat commercial, can’t believe a TV show would use Christian mythology as a backdrop.

This show is clearly a mockery!

This disrespectful program mocking God and the Christian faith has now gone too far. TBS executives have crossed a line in misleading viewers about God and belittling the Christian faith with crude jokes and foul language. They would never air a show that defamed Muhammad in a similar fashion for fear of instant and violent reprisals.
“Misleading”? Who the hell is watching this show and expecting to see a reenactment of the Bible? (Wait till they find out God isn’t friending anyone on Facebook, either.)

This show isn’t “mocking” Christianity. It’s taking a well-known myth and using it to talk about larger societal issues. It wouldn’t work as well with any other religion.

Still, the Moms fully expect this comedy show to be viewable during church services, saying that Miracle Workers is “another attempt to distort the truth about Christianity” and that the title “could misguide families about the content of the show.” Again, they’re assuming their followers are as dumb as they are, making complete judgments about the contents of a show based solely on its title.

If you’re watching a half-hour basic cable show for your biblical knowledge… you’ve got bigger problems.

As far as action goes, the show isn’t going to end just because roughly three Christian women (they round up) don’t understand how humor works. So they’re going after Subaru instead.

Please use the information we have provided to contact Subaru and ask that they pull their financial support from the blasphemous program, “Miracle Workers,” immediately.
Why Subaru? Who the hell knows. The show has numerous advertisers. It’s not like one company is underwriting the whole thing. (It’s also hard to imagine Subaru didn’t know what it was getting into.)

Last time they *****ed about a TV show it turned out to be a decent show (and it put the hypocrisy on many Christians on full display and full blast) (GCB I think it was called?). I also liked Paul, and they or some other similar group put that show on blast (which is how I found out about that movie). And then of course the "controversy" stormed by their forerunners Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson, and Eminem all became common house-hold names.
So good for them in their obliviousness to the fact they give life to the things they hate and make them so much more known due to the free publicity.

I'm glad they haven't seen Supernatural yet...:D:eek::oops::rolleyes:
They should and point out how it's a very poor representation of Indiana. It might just trigger the denizens of the sundown town of Elwood to see that show portray racial diversity in their very predominately, over 90% white city. (that seems to be absolutely the only thing I can ever remember about that show, is that no one involved in that show has ever been to Elwood and they clearly had no intention of accurately portraying it).
